Player Watch Ed Allan

Good on Ed. I have a soft spot for him. Ive been critical of him.

He has some traits that are really hard to come by

that size and speed for a mid is massive.

Am i just Americanised. i feel like wingspan is an under talked about area for players in the AFL. Ed with those gangly arms and speed is very deceptive in his chase for the opposition. Got Byron Kickett a few times yesterday (purposely misnamed him)

100% loves himself and is a dog of a player. Will happily shirt front a player with their head over the ball....or even trip a player.

Would like to see Ed Allan reminded of this next time we play Melbourne and he dig Pickett's head into the ground so he remembers Ed Allan's name.
The spear tackle is his specialty.

About to say now he is showing his talent and getting better week by week. Watch him walk for more opportunities etc

If bro wants the opportunity to become the no.2 mid in an AFL side, he won't be going anywhere.

Anyway, he's starting to show a fair bit. Getting first hands on it at stoppages and starting to utilise his breakaway speed from the contest. Once his disposal and decision-making tidies up, we've got a potential A grader on our hands. A bit of a slow burn but he's getting there.

Was really happy with him but they should have had him run with Kosi from the start. He had 2 goals on the board very quickly. Allan is racking up good numbers with relatively low game time and showing important traits like pace, a bit of dare and the ability to play close and put pressure on his opponent.

Kozi hadn't had a kick for a month, so no surprise there wasn't a strong tag from the start.

What he said is hubris and I hope it comes back to bite him
Thought Ed has comes on really well last few weeks. Really having some impact. Was big on him when we got him but doubts had taken over. Very happy to be wrong.

As for Kosi I love him. Plays footy like it should be played and has an edge. Not polished with the mic though and I think he guenuinally had forgotten Ed's name. Even if it was an act, as in Buddy to Razor, asking him if he knew the name of his opponent, love that anyway. Bit of bravado from the stars is ok.

For Ed put it in the memory bank. Helps him understand where he is on the journey and should drive him to make sure everyone knows who he is. All good stuff.

Yeah, Kosi's vocab in front of the cams isn't as extensive or as polished as say Darcy Moore but who cares, the kid can play....Kosi did know Eds name because he said Ed, he just wasn't a hundred percent certain. I don't think Ed will lose sleep about it, he will have enough coaches pissing in his pocket this week his self-esteem will be fine.

90 percent of CFc posters still spell Ed's last name with an e.

Agree. Much prefer that to opposition players being all matey and complimenting each other.

Really happy for Ed. I think his game was quite good and he's been building. Previously he'd have good periods but then disappear for a quarter so consistency is something he needs to continue to work on. He needs to maintain this level. Finally, we might get a first round draftee that might be ok.

Some times it’s a belief, especially when played not in your best position
Now that Ed has had his opportunity he has shown an improvement in his play
In saying that he still has a lot more to do and improve, but he hopefully is getting there

Still think his strength is still improving. Still a bit baby giraffe like at times.
7 inside 50s has me salivating a bit. I really loved seeing him dash out of the middle on a couple of occasions. I think he could end up very special

If only one of our forwards had been waiting when he did it last week, instead of the opposition.
Still trying to figure out why none of our players were there.

No westy who is an elite one on one mark, no Elliot who can lead into space and no Bobby at their feet.

He’s building very nicely, his physical traits are outstanding, when his ‘game’ catches up to them he’ll be a fine player.
Good summary. It's hard not to be impatient with promising players sometimes -- the rewards are in the long term.
