Ed Curnow

Just thought I would raise the question about Ed Curnow on a couple of levels. Was very happy to see we had picked him up in the rookie draft and immediately had my hopes on another Barlow. Also must admit...now am looking fantasy footy wise.

What do people think about his prospects of holding down a spot this year? By what I have read he seems compared in play to Mclean and Ellard but with a good showing tonight he would have to stay. Would there be room for him if Ellard wasn't suspended? Looking at the team its a bit difficult to say ATM.

He'd be behind both McLean and Ellard but if he puts in a good performance tonight he's every chance of holding on to his spot for next week.

Living in Tassie I only got to see his NAB cup game against Collingwood. There's quite a few reports about him in his thread on the buddy draft board

Yeah, I've thought we could play any two of them at any time. If they're performing it means Judd and Murphy get a lot more freedom. We used McLean/Hadley and Hadley/Grigg/Ellard last year along with Judd and Murphy, these guys should be an upgrade.

Michael Barlow was a one of a kind freak who somehow slipped through the cracks. Just because Ed had a great 2010, doesn't mean he'll be Barlow mk II.

Expect him to be a solid player for us, don't expect him to become an top shelf midfielder like Barlow.

I think you'll be pretty satisfied with his performance tonight JBB. Coming back from an injury that kept him out for as long as it did I think it may be mid season by the time he's back to his absolute best so he may have a spell in the VFL in that time but once he hits top form he'll cement a spot in our team.

Saw him in the practice match against adelaide where he played the 2nd half. Seem to get his hands on it but looked a little rushed on disposal. Has obviously impressed the club with his work ethic and football skills. Hope he goes well. Looks like he is ahead of Joseph.

For what its worth, he was the sub player in the adelaide practice match so i think he will again be the sub in the match against the tigers.

There will be a lot of negatives come out of tonight...but...

Ed Curnow was brilliant!
What a great pick up again in the rookie draft! We tend to pull gems out every year and he is no exception!
24 touches 5 marks a goal...and even better 7 tackles...not sure on the clearances..but also won plenty..

Loved some of his hard running to recieve handballs. His skills look good enough too. Pace isn't too bad. Him and Mclean should be able to be in the same team.

He's a footballer isn't he? Showed some real game smarts. Has pace on McLean and smarts on Ellard. On tonights performance and taking an interrupted pre-season into account he will take some shifting.
