I don't think he'd demand a trade - he's Collingwood through and through, and probably knows there wouldn't be much interest in him!

Eddie is frustrated just like us. Wouldn't hurt for Ben to cop it anyway. He was obviously out drinking with them and it's not good enough for someone with his history let alone someone who's just been dropped... he should be working his butt off to get back into the team.

There was a good article in today's paper on the subject:

what i find so funny is that the president is obviously aware of how bad johnson has been this year, yet the coach seems to have only just recently realised.

Maybe the coach won't be there either?

The coach knew, but johnson had a couple of free passes, he has used them up now. Also until recently no one has really presed for the johnno spot. You all would of had kittens had w eplayed toovey earlier.

Anyway happy to know ed layed into him

I think Barham is not far off claiming BJ's spot

I don't know about "kittens", but I had a pretty severe case of apoplexy when Mick and his team decided the Toovey/Lonie-led recovery was the way to go last week.

Sounds Like the Players don't Like Eddie at the moment then - Hope none leave because of this.

Sound that was pretty silly by Eddie:mad:

Not silly, brutally honest.

I would of been even harsher and im sure there a few other supporters that would of been worse than me dave

Johnson is another that always just seems to be a part of the 'scaly' crowd at the Pies. Happy to punt him to be honest. Add Shane OBree and we are set.......

Just to let you guys know, i'm only new on this board but the funnhy thing is Benny Johnson has been doing this wild partying for years. I'm only 21, but back in the days when i used to go clubbing in melbourne i remember Johnson being out at much the same places most weekends. IN every scenario i saw him either being very drunk, same goes for tarrant when he was at collingwood. Tarrent was also on our schoolies in Byron Bay cause he had a GF at that time. In that case he was a complete mess every night!

From Caroline's article in The Age:

Eddie:
"I had the highest Q-scores in Australian television the week before I became Collingwood president and a year later I had the lowest. I became the Collingwood bloke."

It sounded like some speech that the players were subjected to. Not only did McGuire accuse Ben Johnson of being fat, he said that after nine years at the club the president could kick better with his wrong foot than Johnson. Not all players took such comments particularly well. McGuire said he reminded the players of the world economic downturn, their rich contracts and the club's financial problems linked to failed hotel investments that could see the club announce a loss of up to $2 million this season."

Not the best for morale?

Eddie needs to know his place.

Tend to agree. We have coaches and medical staff to tell Ben Johnson of his health and skill deficiencies. (Maybe they should tell him more often, granted) But that spray sounded like it could have been lifted straight from LSD.

The way he is going he will be hosting the Aussie Version of

At least someones saying it. Good on ya Eddie, give them a dose of reality. And those saying its not his place to do so, he is the president and is quite possibly one of the best people to say it.

I say good on him for ripping into the players. Someone upthread said it wasn't good for player morale to hear about their rich contracts and the sacrifices they need to make. Well maybe having too high morale is not good for these people. These guys are unbelievably fortunate to be payed hundreds of thousands of dollars to represent Collingwood. It is something that many of us would willingly give up our pinky's to do.

It seems that the players either don't want such a glorious opportunity, or don't care about our club as much as we do. If that's the case, then I hope Eddie's spray ripped paint off the walls.

Also, I probably wouldn't have mentioned Ben Johnson's footskills, but it doesn't mean that what he said was untrue.

Most of the article is based on hear say. What maybe true may not be true at all.

Chickie cut his wedding finger off to play for the Hawks and we are bigger then them. So where does that leave us?

Meh, they deserve a spray, I don't know if it's Ed's position to do so, but as sure as hell I'm not getting an opportunity! :D

Its obvious he hasnt looked in a mirror.

Eddie is an A Grade twit, with a head swelled the size of a beach ball.
