No, it's not a newly-minted public holiday in our president's honour (although I'm sure you all wouldn't mind if it was). Rather, this is part of Fox Footy's January gimmick, after December's "Superstar Month". For the whole of January, they're turning the asylum over to the lunatics letting the presenters at Fox Footy get control of the programming for a day each, with this Saturday being Eddie's turn at the helm.

Here's what's on El Presidente's playlist:

12:00am: Round 10, 1998 - Collingwood vs Fremantle
Our last ever win at Victoria Park. And what a way to do it. Fremantle led all day, only for the Big Sav to win it off his own boot with his best ever haul of 11 goals. Buckley picked up 36 disposals, 13 clearances, 9 Inside 50s and kicked in for a goal himself, continuing his long line of dominant performances over the Dockers.

2:00am: Round 1, 2007 - Kangaroos vs Collingwood
Another come from behind win, this one over the Arden Street mob. What a difference a year made. In 2006, we thumped them by 10+ goal margins both times. On this occasion, we had to come from behind after trailing all day. Paul Medhurst played his first game in black and white and ended up our only multiple goal kicker. The infamous Shannon Grant poster game...:drunk:

4:00am: Round 4, 1995 - Collingwood vs Essendon
The epic ANZAC Day draw that started it all. The only time one can be satisfied tucking a non-victory into a highlights reel. Big Sav kicked 9 and almost won it off his own boot, while Nathan Buckley made one of the few mistakes of his career, kicking to an outnumbered Rocca instead of going for goal himself in the dying seconds. Dermott Breretton makes a cameo in black and white and Brett James ended up our only other multiple goal kicker.

6:00am: Round 8, 2002 - Collingwood vs Brisbane
The classic thriller under the roof of Docklands (I forget what it was called back then. On purpose...) Buckley ended up with 31 disposals, 2 goals and 9 clearances in one of so many fine captain's games. Tarrant booted 5, Rocca and Ruuuuuuuuuuupert Betheras kicked 3 each, as we held off Brisbane in a game which marked that team's coming-of-age. Look out for Scott Cummings kicking the last of his six goals as a Magpie...

8:30am: 2002 1st Preliminary Final - Collingwood vs Adelaide
Our first finals win in Melbourne since that famous premiership, and Nathan Buckley's first finals win period, after missing that upset win over Port Adelaide a fortnight before (which I thought would have made for a better choice, but anyway...). Most famously remembered for Anthony Rocca's thumping goal in the third quarter from the edge of the centre square that lifted the MCG off its foundations, while Alan Didak kicked the sealer to send an entire fan base (and Peter Daicos up in the commentary box as well) into raptures. Listen out for the supporters in the stands singing the song in the final minutes, taking great care to not say the p-word in the lyrics...

11:00am: 2003 1st Preliminary Final - Collingwood vs Port Adelaide
Our other finals victory over the Power, a convincing win in the end coming two weeks after the insane pressure of that triumph over Brisbane (again, probably the superior choice, but this is McGuire's day). Paul Licuria led the disposals tally with 27, while Tarrant and Davis booted 3 apiece to lead the goals column. If only that's where the music had have stopped in 2003...:(

1:30pm: 2007 2nd Semi Final - West Coast vs Collingwood
The famous extra-time win over the reigning premiers. Another coming-of-age wing for both another young team and a young future champion in Dane Swan, who dominated with 38 disposals, 2 goals and 11 clearances. It was also a fitting swansong for a couple of old champs in Buckley and Clement, as they made that one last ill-fated lunge for that elusive premiership. One of the finest wins in the club's history...

4:00pm: 2009 1st Semi Final - Collingwood vs Adelaide
Who would have thought Jack Anthony would end up doing something memorable? Well, not him, for one. And especially not in a cut-throat semi final, needing a goal inside the final minute to win the game after having an absolute shocker of a game. And yet that's just what he did. The Crows jumped us early and we looked almost gone at quarter time, before bit-by-bit we reeled them in to go into the last change two kicks clear. They hit the front a couple of times, before Anthony had his 30 seconds in the spotlight. Dane Swan and Heath Shaw lead the disposals with 28 and 29 respectively, while an 18 year old Steele Sidebottom picked up 25 touches of his own and a team-high 10 tackles.

6:30pm: 2010 1st Preliminary Final - Collingwood vs Geelong
Oh, what a night. That first quarter, in particular. Pendlebury, BANG, GOAL! The Leigh Brown Gatting bounce. The "Emperor's New Clothes Moment" as Ben Johnson steps around Ling. One of the finest quarters of total Collingwood football you will ever see. The rest of the game was alright too, I suppose...

9:00pm: 2010 Grand Final Replay - Collingwood vs St Kilda
Only fitting that this should be the final game of the day. 20 years after we last touched the cup, we finally returned to the Promised Land. The Greatest Smother of All Time. Goldsack the most unlikeliest of first goal kickers. Dawes kicking a "Dawesome" goal. Wellingham and Swan roving Jolly brilliantly for storming forward 50 goals. Didak smothering with a ruined pec, re-gathering, snapping on the right and celebrating with a shimmy. Eddie McGuire in tears. And the 23rd player for Collingwood, a debutante by the name of Emblebury, pinched the Norm Smith from Pendles and Swanny...

All times are, of course, Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time. Set your recorders and reminders accordingly...

Just looked at the guide and it starts on Saturday. Can't see any of the 1990 games. Starts with 1998 round 10 v Freo, then 2007 round 1 v Kangaroos. The 2007 SF v West Coast is included which is a cracker.

Interesting.

I just checked the EPG and it still has the 1990 games in there.

I was looking at the app. I have set the Freo game to record, either way I will enjoy whatever I get!

Ah, yes, I see it too now.

And yes, I agree. Part of me would actually love to see that game against Freo again. Was the day Sav booted 11 at Vic Park and I just love any game with Sav having a big day/night out in black and white.

I was right behind the goals that day.

Here's what's on El Presidente's playlist:

12:00am: 1990 2nd Semi Final - Essendon vs Collingwood
The breakthrough game against the other best side of 1990, after we had been getting closer and closer throughout the year, and at precisely the right time too. Thanks to Peter Sumich's missed kick on the siren at Waverley, the Bombers found their reward of a week off for finishing on top suddenly turning into the millstone of a fortnight away from the park. And it showed, as we steamrolled them after half time to earn our own week's break and the first ticket into the Grand Final. Watch out for the infamous farcical moment just before three quarter time where Simon Madden and Derek Kickett collectively couldn't work out if they were Arthur or Martha, Scotty Russell swooping to settle the question by thumping it through for a goal on the run. Alas, poor Alan Richardson was on the pine with that ruined collarbone, his childhood dream in tatters...:(

2:00am: 1990 Grand Final - Collingwood vs Essendon
The Daicos goal from the boundary. The quarter time brawl. The felling and (later on) the resurrection of Gavin Brown. The withering five goal burst in the second quarter. Daicos from the boundary again. Matthews coming down to the bench and pumping the fist to the faithful. Millane holding the ball aloft after playing a whole month with a broken thumb. Tony Shaw in tears. All that and a thousand more memories as the drought was broken.

4:00am: Round 4, 1995 - Collingwood vs Essendon
Another
run-in with the Bombers?! I mean, I know McGuire is tight with some Essendon people, but seriously...

Actually, it is a decent choice in it's own right: the epic ANZAC Day draw that started it all. The only time one can be satisfied tucking a non-victory into a highlights reel. Thank you Mr Bat.
Good run down - scary to think how many games I remember like yesterday

Turns out the revised guide that jmac70 came across was correct.

Jimmy Clement just kicked a goal for Fremantle. And Brodie Holland has popped up a couple of times as well.

Don't rate either of those hacks. They'll never go anywhere with their careers! :drunk:

And he's done it! Leigh Brown has absolutely no idea what has happened. Still doesn't know!

Oh, sorry, thought I was commentating the cricket there for a moment...:drunk::D

And BEHOLD! The Emperor has no clothes!

God Tippett was good at Throwing his Head back for Free Kicks in this Crows Game
I remember that, I was so sure he was going to milk his way to a win for them.

Just watched the North game, did Lonie always bounce whilst standing still?

Watched the 07 finals against WC and Geelong. Imagine if Rusling had stayed fit, he seemed to have all the talent in the world. He would be 29 right now and our forward line would be very good.
That forward line of Cloke Rocca (soon to be replaced by Dawes) and Rusling was so young and exciting at the time. They were a big reason why we did so well in that finals series
