Eddie is being touted as the new head of channel 9 melbourne. But they would like to see him free up some of his other interests first.

Would he give up the Collingwood presidency now that the ship is sailing along nicely.?

IMO, it would be good for football.

If Eddie became head of Channel 9 Melbourne, it would probably mean he would have to give up the presidency. I could see it happening.

But, I doubt he would get the job anyway.

Eddie quitting CFC good for football?
or
Eddie running 9 good for football?

or both? I think I know the answer.

Eddie has well and truly achieved what he wanted to achieve when he took over the job but I have a feeling he won't let up til we get a flag.

Without the bull**** conflict of interest claims, Eddie would have full reign to promote the Club relentlessly on every program he is on and barrack for the Collingwood games that he calls.

Maybe it would be good for Collingwood (aka football).

Eddie wouldnt give up the presidency cause there'd be no one else suitable to take over. We cant go back to the Old days, thered have to be a new businessman to take over and i cant see that happening.

Eddie's not stupid. He won't go for the Ch 9 job as he knows he doesn't have the qualifications nor experience to run it. He has more than enough to keep him busy (and well paid) with what he currently has and would not be willing to give up his Collingwood presidency.

You will know when Ed is moving on as a vice president type will start to get a lot more profile. I have no doubt that Ed will have a succession plan when the time comes and will hand the baton over by endorsing his replacement.

I can't see the 9 job happening, he makes a ton of cash already.

I certainly agree that he's too busy, but I can't believe anyone, especially Collingwood supporters, would think that he's not qualified or experienced to do the job.
Eddie is well qualified, and as for experience, well..I reckon it would have been harder to run Collingwood in those first dark days.
If Eddie wants the job, he'll get it.
