So I am on holidays in the USA with the family and been out of range, finally able to catch up on the news on how our mighty Swans are tacking, low and behold I find Eddie having a whine again, if his stupid hypocrisy over the COLA/retention allowance wasn't embarrassing enough for him he needs to concern himself about our first two games, the guy is a first class tool!
Still sobbing over the flogging we gave them in the prelim obviously

Rant over

What did he say about our first two games? I must have missed it.

He questioned when our season actually started considering we played GWS & Suns first two games, soft draw, easy in for 2013 blah, blah, Bleh... Now they played a team who finished outside the eight and the team that finished 8th, so hardly the worlds hardest start themselves,

Eddie's whinge.

McGuire argues it's time for the draw to become more fair and balanced.

"Look at last year, Adelaide virtually had a bye every four weeks," McGuire said.

If you want fair and balanced, play more than four games out of Victoria you fat prick.

I assume Collingwood also play GWS and GCS this year? If so, what's his problem? Is the AFL obliged to make sure everyone, particularly the reigning premier, starts the season with a couple of tough games? If so, any suggestions on how they might do that Eddie?

And anyway, as has been pointed out elsewhere, there's plenty of logic to suggest that young teams are a harder challenge early in the season, before their younger bodies have been knocked around.

Waynkar.

Might have been a bit more validity to Eddie's remarks had the Suns not started with a win over St Kilda ... I'm not sure how he overlooks that in making his comments ... he does seem to have been on an anti-Sydney crusade since we won the flag, maybe he's still stinging from having flopped there when Channel 9 sent him up.

Or perhaps he now sees the Swans as a premiership rival to Collingwood and he is trying to lesson our chances of another flag. He had no problems with the concessions the Swans were getting until we became good enough to become a potential threat to Collingwood.

Eddie has evey right to express his opinion on what he thinks is fair and reasonable. Just as I have every right to call him out on such opinions.

The facts are that the Pies are probably the biggest club in Australia. Is this fair? Looking at it from their formidible history then I'd say so. They have been managed very well by the great messiah Eddie. And Eddie will happily flaunt this via their huge membership and crowd numbers, new facilities etc etc. However, at the same time meaning they manage to get all the prime time TV spots based on the ridiculous amount of additional eyes willing to watch (and pay). This in turn increases their exposure & numbers even further without providing stuggling teams like the Western Bulldogs or North a chance at prime time footy and promotion. Is this fair?

Now, is the COLA fair? Is it more expensive to live in Sydney? Yes. Is it cheaper to live elsewhere? Yes. Are their as many opportunities for self promotion in media etc in states outside of Victoria? No. Did the clubs agree to the allowance at one point or another? Yes. Does Sydney evenly distribute this allowance over all contracts and not unfairly use it in targetting other players? Yes. Obviously I'm biased but I do believe it is a fair mechanism for enevning the disadvantages our club faces being based in Sydney. We certainly did not & are not recieving the kind of incentives that GWS or GC have been privledged to date. If we had we may have won another couple of premierships by now as we would have been able to keep players such as Williams, Mitchell & Rocca.

In any case. His critism is that of envy. He is envious of our success and the way we go about our business. We are a smart club driven by a strong culture and good people. He just wishes for a second all his clubs money & power could get him that.

If my memory is correct the year they won the flag from about mid year they played at about three stadiums, MCG & Etihad being 90% of the games, that sounds fair equitable.
On another note, I would really encourage when discussing the COLA also reference the retention aspect of our additional funds, the Vic clubs and lazy media have conveniently dropped this aspect to leverage their argument, we all know in early to late 90s drafting, keeping, losing players was a massive issue, remove this aspect and the potential is there again, the Retention was a key plank in getting and setting up some stability in player well fare and incentive to stay.

2011 they didnt travel til round 14. They wouldnt get many frequent flyer points at collingwood. How many games has swan played 200? Probably been to the airport 5 times

The problem Eddie's created for himself is what is he going to say when Collingwood play GWS and GC? He's already claimed we got two byes to start the season, so both those clubs will have a lot of ammunition for when they play the pies.

Sitting back watching Crows/Blues game, and never a great sight to see someone damage their knee, in this circumstance it was T.Walker from Crows, so the conversation centers around impact on Crows year, everyone hoping Walker is ok, but good old Eddie one of the first words out of his parasitic opportunistic gob was "If there wasn't a Cola rule, the impact on Crows wouldn't be as bad" what a dung beetle, little man, doesn't he get Tippett was going? Is he clearly that dumb?
Given his exposed hypocrisy with the Cola from when he lived in Sydney until now I have reached the conclusion he is seriously dumb, little wonder he was fired as head of Ch 9. image.jpg

Did he really say that? Jesus, the guy's a self-interested turd.

Not only did he say it immediately after Walker's injury, but he continued to vent about throughout the halftime break. He was essentially saying that it was Kurt Tippet/Sydney's fault that Adelaide are now going to struggle to replace Walker while he's out injured. Tool.

The COLA is a terrible and unfair thing. I mean it allows some clubs to pay their stars players more to keep them and have the total player payments officially stay under the cap but in reality breach by hundreds of thousands of dollars!

If it wasn't for the COLA, Adelaide would have been able to keep Tippett for sure! It wasn't as thought they were paying him outside the salary cap to get him in the first place, and it wasn't as though he wasn't going to have to have some paper bag arrangements in a new contract to keep him!! <coughs> *Travis Clock and Channel 9*<coughs>.

Oh no... its flu season.
