i read the club is playing him down in the backline. will he be the guy that takes that position as i think he will struggle to get a game in the forward line or middle. he has put on some weight and hopefully kept his speed. could he take that small/medium forward that always smashes us? do you guys think he will be able to hold down that spot?

Where did you read that?
Do I think Edwards could hold down a spot in the back half? NO!

He is always going to be a small unit so a skillfull attacking mid-fielder is his go.

He might be tried there tonight to see how he goes. But in the long run I see him as a small forward to rotate thorough the middle.

Shane has been brilliant so far :thumbsu:

Seems to be playing a midfield type of position, very classy.

Well if you want him to play off half back with Tambling too and Raines lol I should be asking you that question.
well quite clearly if if edwards is there one of tambling or raines is going to be in the middle up forward or on the bench;) understand that or is it to complicated for you?

Didn't really play there CZ, more on a wing linking up with defense the way McMahon often has, with very brief stints on the ball. Won't play there, too undersized in the one on one's, not strong enough overhead. Time may change both those equations, but to be honest, if he wins a one on one ATM it's because his pace and very good stamina allows him to pick up the loose ball, not because there's a single player in the AFL he can outbody.

We still don't have a gun flanker/pocket in defence - Newman isn't it because his defensive work is average at absolute best on an average player, as is McMahon's. Raines' attacking work and his defensive work is generally sub-par (not always, but he hurts nobody with his multitude of possessions and isn't solid enough one on one), Edwards and Tambling are wingers/rovers, not defensive flankers. To be dead honest, having the luxury of dropping one of Tuck or Jackson out of the midfield is our best chance of filling this gaping hole - they have the size, the grit, the 4-quarter run and the 'take no prisoners' aggression.

Playing him off half back would just prove once again how TW has no clue.

It's be nice if you'd stop proving beyond all reasonable doubt that you're a 'post before think' green clueless kid mate. He didn't play there, he won't play there; you just blasted off at full-tilt before penetration yet again. Try shutting up and gleaning the hundreds of things you clearly don't know instead of embarrassing yourself on cue.

I think you're the clueless one. Did I say " OMG TW gonna play him off HB what the hell" no.. I said if he does he's an idiot as he's more of a mid/ small foward not defender.. I was replying to the OP. Maybe you should read before you post?

It's the "just prove once again how TW has no clue" part I obect to pal.

I and others have seen this club gutted to the core and become a laughing stock of the league before Wallace came along, stuck to his guns, wore the cheap hits and patiently brought us to a point where we have the quality and hardness to become genuine finals contenders instead of 'hope we end up 1% better than the other 50%' pretenders.

You're 18 years old and you're not very bright to put it bluntly. You've proven over and over again you shoot and post before thinking, which is not a good habit to get into, and downright arrogant for someone so young who is clearly not obviously brilliant in football thinking terms.

You don't have the right to criticise Wallace over positional nuances which don't actually exist (Edwards on the HBF), nor past performances you can't begin to comprehend on anything resembling an intellectual level.

Take it as constructive criticism and learn from it.

You speak about TW as if he is some sort of god. The whole football department we have at the moment is a rabel including club doctors. Horrible drafting, team and injury management. Wallace in his 5th year and we still haven't made finals under him.

Once again go back and read what I said.. was replying to O.P who hinted at Edwards at HB when I said if TW plays him there. I didn't criticise him for something he hadn't done I was just contemplating my thoughts if he did yet you go on some sort of personal attack when you don't even understand the whole point of the thread and what has been said.

Also how can anyone take you serious RW when you come up with utter garbage like "Raines is just another Jason Cloke 'bye bye football career'" ... "Jackson carried and delivered with Leon Cameron style precison and penetration to our forwards " ... "clearly we've decided Foley doesn't have the body size to regularly contest balls at the bottom of packs" ... I may be 18 years old as you point out but atleast I can come up with some valid points.

I suspect we could write the total of your football knowledge on the back of a postage stamp. To look on in hindsight and criticise is easy, try to look at the overall direction we have been going in for the past 4 years.

Think big picture and dont get your analysis skills from watching today tonight and current affair.

Go back to kinder and learn to think things through junior

Hmm let's look at the last 4 years overall then..

12th
9th
16th
9th

A whole load of drafting mistakes including the infamous Buddy mistake ontop of the injury debarkles known as Brown, Coughlan and Cotchin. While I do think the 5th year will be much better considering onfield results it will be a small window as our 30+ year olds will be gone within 1-2 years and this is mainly due to a poorly structed 5 year plan and we are guranteed to decline down the ladder with all that lost experience.

Perhaps you should follow your own advice and look where the team is headed, also look I can make personal attacks too! I would write the total of your football knowledge on the back of a postage stamp.. If you had any to write about that is.

If you're too naive to see the outcome of all our mistakes instead of living in DREAMLAND then I can't be bothered with you.
