AFL site probably figured 'standard hammy' = 3-4 weeks.
Richmond probably figured that with Conca's history, it's best to play safe so they're giving him 8.
I reckon they've mixed up the info on Grigg with Conca and just assumed Grigg was fine.

Yeah but it's been consistent since he tore it in the EF in 2013. 3 years at the end of this season. He's only had 1 bad year and people are acting like he's always been injury prone.
First 4 years at the club he played 71/84 games and several of those he missed were due to suspension rather than injury. That's pretty good.

From Tigers website:
Edwards OK, likely starter for Rd 1
Conca hammy stuffed, out 8 weeks
Grigg thumb broken, out 3-4 weeks
Townsend, concussed, but OK
How similar is the conca story to the Joel Cory storyMaybe they are going to send Conca to Germany then. Surely they can't just repeat the same rehab as last year that cost him almost the entire season. Got to try something different.
Yeah we could probably afford to give Menadue and Rioli some semi real fame time. Boost their confidence and all that.
Played 19 games in 2014...

Why cant they just say 11 weeks and then promote another rookie, we all know that you add 3 or 4 weeks to whatever the club says.Read the article linked on the RFC website, it says 8 weeks now
You'd think it's about curtains for Conca at this point...
Probably a jarred AC which is bloody painfull. If he can get movement within a fortnight he might be right. I'd say he misses nab 4 but plays against the pies
8 weeks is already enough to go onto the LTI for a rookie elevation, as long as we put him on that list now.Why cant they just say 11 weeks and then promote another rookie, we all know that you add 3 or 4 weeks to whatever the club says.
Not at all. Hes still had injuries every single season.Wow- this stat prob underscores how ineffective he's been then?

Video looked pretty bad with Townsend, looked like Hartlett lined him up with an elbowGreat news on Sheds, not so much for Conca.
Grigg's an important player for us imo, can play multiple roles well and will be missed.
Jeez Townsend headbutting the Port player was strange, clumsy at best, maybe thought the Port player was going to move away from him.
Overall Id have to say its good news considering how bad it looked last night.
Maybe, gives us some flexibility though in case of other potential short term injuries where we can't nominate a rookie. Not much point unless we *really* want to promote another rookie for those 8 weeks.
