I did say questions need to be asked, as from the outside some things dont go down to well IMO.

egan was suppose to be a chance to play in the GF but hes not going to ever play again.Ottens was 2-3 weaks and he may end up missing a season.

trading king for nothing to a side thats competing for a flag with us is a joke , he should of been delisted and sent to a side like richmond.

You've gotta wonder how sheepish those involved in that ridiculous trade will feel if he wins them a flag. I know I'd be feeling shit if he carved us up on grand final day. Without him, they wouldn't be where they are now, and our ruck stocks wouldn't be so shit. I've always said Mark Blake is not the answer. I know he dislocated his shoulder last week, but it's not serious, and I have StKilda supporters sending me messages every week asking when all these serious injuries I promised them for King will actually happen...

Look at how many games King played in 06 and 07. Compare that to Blake in 07? King looked stuffed, Blake looked on the way up. I doubt ANYONE would have predicted King would be doing this well 2 years after we let him go, just as i doubt anyone would have thought the Saints would be doing so well.

Calling what Egan had a "simple ankle injury" is the stupidest thing ive read on this forum. Why not just refer to a knee reco as a "slightly swollen knee"?

I thought the talk was that King only needs one decent hit and he is done for the year.
Lets see what the hawks try on him

Ease up there brother. Lets get some perspective back here! Although King has done a servicable job at St.K and has probably done better than anyone would have expected, its not like he's the most dominant ruckman in the competition. He's basically got injury free which has enabled him to have some consistent performances but still nothing above the ordinary. And if King wasn't there, McAvoy would simply be playing and doing the same job King is currently doing. St.k don't rely on their rucks all that much other than to breakeven. It's their constant pressure around the ground that allows them to do this.
I agree, I don't think Geelong had the responsibility to make sure he went to his preferred team for basically free and so was a silly trade, but he hasn't been anything more than a servicable injury free ruckman. If he was still at Geelong, he would have been in and out with Blake and people would have still been on his back like they were numerous times throughout his tenure at Catland.

Very sad for Egan

You'd have to say that the attempt to get him up for the 2007 GF was a serious blunder. I don't know whose call it was - the player, specialist, or club staff - but they should have taken the long term view and put him in cotton wool as soon as he injured it

The King issue is a hard one. At the time Blake was making good progress and King had been hit by injury for a couple of years and looked on his way out.

Geelong tried to do the right thing by him - and they are to be acknowledged for looking after their players who they believe will not make it. The Prismall trade was disappointing and you would have hoped that he did what Judd did - and help the club that saw faith in him enough to draft him in the first place and then give him some opportunities. However he must not have seen it that way - and what could GFC do if he wanted out and would not help them make a better trade ?

So King (unexpectedly) is playing regular footy now and is playing quite well, Davenport is doing ok but is not yet a regular in Port's first 22, and Prismall is performing well at the Dons. Yes some losses there but too great.

Other delisted or traded players over the past few seasons have not faired so well. Charlie Gardiner did not make it, either has Playfair and Tim Callan has played 1 match this year.

If Simpson had come good this year - shown some promise in the twos, as had Mitch Brown or Gillies - added to the good progress of Mumford then most fans would be ok with these other delistings and trades. Add to this we have not really seen the new Varcoe or Motlop because of injury.

GFC has had a very poor year with injuries - and this makes the tades/delistings look worse than perhaps they were. Prismall may not have got many games again had it not been for a bad injury list. And who knew Ottens would go down in round 2 and be gone for 15 weeks ?

Hogan has looked ok and Djerkurra has promise. We only need two or three seconds players to play well and put up their hands and probably all would be forgiven.
