Silvan has crumbled and are the shambles almost all said they would be. Hope you all take a look at whats happened and to all who told us we should try and get our clubs like them. Take a look at yourselves you clowns.

It wasnt to long ago people were on here praising Silvans work and how we should aspire to be the them!!! Well how you all looking now? I wrote that id rather have two flags in fifty years and my club survive, rather than 3 in five and collapse. Moin laughed and preffered the Silvan model and said I was mad WELL HOWS IT LOOKING AT CATLAND???? If ever a club was destined to fall flat on there backsides and go belly up this was is. Hope all you fickle supporters stick around to clean up the mess youve made.

...and Happy New Year, Nochance!
I hope your club has the same success that you wish for your neighbours.
(Interesting reading the YVMDFL bulletin issued one minute into the new year.)

Silvan FC Press Release

After meeting with the YVMDFL, WorkSafe VCFL and their own committee last week, Silvan FC are pleased to confirm they will be taking to the field in Division 1 of the YVMDFL in 2010.

"Obviously, the decision by the AFLV Board that we remain in the YVMDFL in 2010 did cause us to re-evaluate things, but after talking to the league and the VCFL last week, and considering their offers of support, we are determined to make a good fist of things in Div 1 next year", said club GM, Charlie Caputo. "It certainly won't be an easy task, but we realise that a re-building phase at a club is never easy but we are positive and up for the challenge. We will be following up with all players, both past and present, to make sure we are more than competitive in 2010". "We have a new coach (Chris Goodlet) who has committed to us and we are looking forward to working with Chris in the area of recruitment and retention of players"

Worksafe VCFL CEO Glenn Scott and Yarra Valley MDF President Graeme Tuplin have both joined in pledging their support for the Silvan FC in saying " we understand the club's plans for 2010 have needed to be revisited, however at the meeting between all parties late last week we were impressed by the club's commitment to the 2010 season in Division One of the YVMDFL and we will support the club in any fair and reasonable way. There is a great resilience in this proud club."

I would seriously hope the league isnt offering any help other than what all other clubs receive.
NOCHANCE, I can say unequivocally that this would be the case.
What you may not know - and what others too easily forget - is that this league has a long history of backing its clubs when they run into severe difficulties. Silvan is no less deserving than other clubs (such as Healesville, Warby, Powelltown, Worawa, Kinglake, and Emerald, that I can personally recall) who have been "assisted" by direct intervention from the League. There certainly are others, but the League doesn't shout about it. A couple of clubs even owe their very existence to that long-standing attitude. Sadly, it is not always appreciated, but, it still is what sets this league apart!
On most of those occasions mentioned, it is not just the Board but the other clubs (including Silvan) who have rallied to the cause of others because they actually do care about their neighbouring clubs. I can understand that people have prejudices against certain rival clubs, but when the chips are down, the wise put those aside.
I have been involved in a couple of country and metro leagues as a player, coach and on committee, but it is the YVMDFL's caring record that underpins my respect for this league and its clubs!
One day, it may be yours that needs a hand.

Far be it for me to come in to bat for the Silvan FC but NOCHANCE it's time for a Bex and a good lie down.

They will be around for another 12 months so we may as well get used to the fact.

I hope some of their "fairer weather" supporters stick fat and that they as a club put it all on the line in 2010 and show the YVMDFL that they had a crack and the EFL that the 12 months was woth the wait.

As for the league offering any financial support I could not see that being even the merest possibility.

Youve got it all wrong Phillthy I was in support of the Silvan FC, sadly they havnt existed for a few years now. What was a great club became a home of mercanarys and look whats happened. Now they dont want to face the music and want out of the league. Front up and take your medicine and let it be a lesson to all clubs that money doesnt buy long term futures.

Just to clarify: the League does not hand out money to assist clubs. The assistance is non-monetary - such as, to waive league credit time-lines; negotiate with Council, the club's creditors or sponsors; canvass local support for the club; provision of admin, organisational and planning resources, or opportunity for club fund-raising through finals hosting, etc.
These are often implemented after other clubs prompt the Board to act, but it's generally with the clubs complicity and sometimes even with direct help from a neighbour. We saw how that spirit worked when the football community once again rallied around on Black Saturday. We've seen the bond forged between clubs (i.e. Kinglake and Olinda, Monbulk and Alex) and how our clubs have rallied for seriously injured opponents.
It isn't hard to admire the footy up here.
