In answer to the question no!

I prefer to use stairs where possible, to have the exercise. Also, minimises the risk of getting stuck in the elevator again, when the emergency phone didn't work! Not a good feeling.

Well that's all well and good unless you're actually caught crossing without a walk signal, since you can be fined for doing so. So if it's a crowded road (in the city or something) it's best to wait.

If the road is completely empty then yeah I'll cross but won't push the button.

not unless its dangerous, you cannot get fined. Ohterwise whats the purpose of having a second button on the middle traffic island?
 
At the traffic lights outside Westfield at Parramatta you'd stand out if you waited for the lights to change beofre crossing. No-one does, not even the police.
The cops could make an absolute fortune some day by randomly handing out fines at that corner.
 
Me and my friend actually did this today, When we got off there were some guys standing there and then they walked in and went "thanks for that ****-suckers" quite funny.:D

I walked across the road without the signal and there was a Cop Car there, nothing happens. Then again, this is Adelaide ...
 
Whenever I walk to my local shopping centre I jaywalk less than 30 metres away from a police station...I don't think they really care unless they're low on funds that month.

Swanston Street/Flinders Street outside the station has hundreds of jaywalkers per hour.
 
I'm rarely in elevators, but when I am in there alone, sometimes as I'm leaving I press all the buttons so that anyone else who wants it has to wait. :o Immature yes, fun yes.

Speaking of crossing roads in front of police, is one allowed to walk directly across a roundabout?

My point about Suzi not being the most stupid person here has been proven beyond all doubt.
 
I don't do it, but it doesn't matter if it happens in the uni elevators - there's only 4 levels, it's not like i was in one of those elevators in a major tower building in the CBD with 50 odd levels.

i think its flinders st station that has (or used to have) little signs on the tiled walls saying 'do not spit on the walls'.

I can't see why not. As long as you're not holding up the traffic, but if there's no cars on the roundabout at the time that'd be fine.

My favourite memory of Adelaide was they were cracking down on cars that were polluting the air and stuff and this car went through an intersection pouring smoke and **** everywhere and those cops (or whatever they were) were sitting at the lights and let them go right past. :confused: I'd just seen a thing on the news about it, so was pretty surprised and amused to see that happen.

Just on the jaywalking thing, I mean I don't know how much they actually police it, but I did read that if you cross a road within 50m of lights you can be fined, stuff like that. And knowing my luck..........well let's just say I would prefer to abide by the laws. :o

Eddy Ave at central Station is worse - everyone just walks whenever they feel like it, even when cars are coming. I used to walk when it was safe there, but now that I drive instead, it s***s me no end! :mad:
