As long as he is only involved with the coterie group i can accept that. I just could not accept if he found his way back onto the board.

Oh noez! It's a DISASTER!

I mean, Pratt and Elliot are BUDDIES! That MUST mean Pratt will hand over power. Even though Pratt is not know for stupid decision making that can cripple businessess. Even know he is well aware what a disaster Elliot has been! Even though he's not a stupid enough man.

OMGZ!! WE MUST ACT! THE PROPHET JEFF DUNNE HAS SPOKEN!

He has to gooo!

:p ;)

Why the need for him to make a comment in the media today? Then specifically saying we should go back to PP? Why can't the man keep his mouth shut.....I don't care if he helps with the Coterie groups - as long as he keeps quiet. Actually I wouldn't mind if he spoke out once - just to admit his role in sending our club down the ********ter.

Yes Elliot made a mistake a big one....

But to bring him back solely to help raise money is good.... if He's able to raise at least $1million to compensate for our fine for sal-cap rorting that eases a bit of our pain, and at least paves the way for some forgiveness.

Elliot screwed up big time and we'll forever be cautious of him!!! I doubt he'll become the successor to Pratt after his reign (members and the like will prob not allow it!).

Lets give him some chance to make up for a bit of his sins and help us pay off the debt that he created.

Well put.

Been said a million times, we need passionate people back at the club and Big Jack is as passionate as they come. Forgiveness can be thrown his way and let's face it, he has a profile like not many others in the AFL.
Let him get on with raising much needed cash, I'm sure Pratt will keep a keep a leash on him.
Let's get back to being the powerhouse we once were!!!!!

The problem is, he hasn't even asked for forgiveness. He doesn't think he has done anything wrong. Until he publicly comes out and apologises and is working to fix up his stuff ups, I am very sceptical of him being there.

I only hope that RP knows what he is doing here. I'm happy to wait and see what type of role Jack is going to play at the club, and maybe his stay is going to be short-lived, just like RP's.

As someone else said, if he can raise some additional revenue for the club, then that would be terrific. But I DO NOT want him on the Board in any form at all.

As for the apology people, that will never ever come - EVER!

I can handle Jack leading a coterie group - it seems he always did unofficially anyway. I'll even buy him a beer (not that he'd need one) if I see him in the social club. Whatever his sins, and they're grievous, I can't ever forget the good things he did for us - including two of those cups downstairs.

FWIW, I was in favour of keeping his name on the stand. I thought it was churlish to take it down, and it made us look small.

But dear god, don't let him on the board (assuming ASIC allows him to be a director again).

You people who are worried about John Elliott returning to Carlton really have no idea. His main priority/task is to reunite the past 2 decades of prominate Carlton supporters in the business community. Forget about what he done in the past, that is the past and the main priority for Carlton is the future and if he can help rebuild the club by gathering large donations off of the business community then why wouldnt you want him back? I guarantee you that John Elliott is the most passionate Carlton supporter you will ever meet, one conversation with him and you will realise this. He is passionate and willing to help, why not let him.

Thats what I was thinking when I heard the news this morning. If he could at least admit what he had to in the past was wrong, then I would have no problem with him coming back, but at the moment I'm a little aprehensive. Only time will tell if Elliott will be a postive or negative influence on the club.

This is a disaster. The man that brought this great club to its knees is back, also he is going to bring back all his old mates from his era. I know it's hard to criticise Pratt given his business success but what on earth is going on with this move? I have immediatley lost respect for him as president of our club.

Carlton supporters should be demanding that all the ties form the Elliot era be severed. But no, we have to bring back past greats. Gleeson remains on the board (voted back by members) , KErnahan although he has done nothing as a director was being touted as president. Truth is Kernahan has been an awful director and remains simply b/c he was loved as a player. Ratten and Bradley were brought back as skills coaches simply to undermine Pagan. Sure they may be good skills coaches but there are many other good candidates out there that could do the same job. Many of the players in that era were reciving over payments and knew about it, so they are responsible also for what happened.

Truth is when Pagan arrived he cleaned house and he subsequently made himself alot of enemies. Now all the so called 'great' Carlton people are back to once again run the club into the ground. Next thing they will re-appoint David Parkin. How Parkin has escaped criticism for our tragic plight is beyond me given the amount of draft picks he traded away for senior citizens, all to boost his chances of winning in the short term. But Robert Walls doesn't mention that in his article does he? For all the talent we had in the 90's PArkin was only able to delivor one premiership.

These Carlton supporters that are aginst Pagan need ot get a reality check. They want past players and past Carlton 'greats' back b/c it reminds them off a time that we were successful (false comfort). But people have got to remember that it was these people that brought the club to it's knees.

Carlton supporters need to take control of this club. It's good that Smorgon was voted off but it didn't go far enough. When KErnahan next comes up for re-election he must be voted off the board. In the meantime PAgan should be granted complete control of the football department and have the right to hire the assitants he wants. Pagan critics need to wake up. He is a proven coach - do his critics think that he just woke up one day and didn't know how to coach?

As for ELlliott, CArlton fans should be phoning the club making it clear that this is completely unacceptable.

He stuffed up, he's done his time, and there is no way he'd be stupid enough to do it again. Nor would anyone else at the club.

he loves this club and is extremely passionate.

I like him, i like how he injects a bit of fear into opposition supporters with the way he talks about carlton. I like the fact that it annoys people when they hear or see him. I like that he's blue and i do like that he's back!

Welcome back Jack!!!!:thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :)

and i have to say it....

"PIG"S AAAAAAARSE!!!

:thumbsu: :)

One of the reasons Pratt didnt come back to the club earlier is because none of his old mates were around the club. It now appears that Elliot is part of the reason Pratt came back, and if along the way he can do some good for the club then he deserves a second chance.

I like Jack. I always have liked Jack. He's been held solely responsible for the last 5 years, he's done his time and now he's been given a second chance. Everyone deserves a second chance.

If he does manage to turn the fortunes of the club around, what will you all say then? Is that when you'll say "Welcome back Jack" or will you still put the knife into him?
Let's not forget one thing, Jack may have been part of the admin that almost brought this club to it's knees, but he also helped to make this club great.

Never doubt Jack's love and passion for this club. He bleeds blue.
This is his chance to make up for his sins and perhaps we should all give him the space to do it.

Welcome home Jack
