is still the king

For me it's him v MJ as the greatest solo artist....and im an Elvis fan

Elvis shits all over Michael Jackson. My love of Elvis is only rivaled by my love of the bulldogs. I went and bought the deluxe edition of the 68 comeback special yesterday. It's greatness pleases me.

But late 50's Elvis will always be my favourite.

I was a discussion with my wife about this the other day, watching the Glee Michael Jackson episode.

We came to the conclusion that they are both just as good as each other in terms of musical talent, what they did for the industry and how much of an influence they were to the generation after them.

The last part being the key. Without Elvis we might not of had Michael... without Michael we might not of had etc. etc.

Yeah, both just about with Beatles the biggest influences ever in music. Agree that 50s Elvis is the best...Jailhouse rock is one of my favourites ever. Viva Las Vegas, Springtime, swing down sweet chariots and milky white way are my next favs of Elvis.

With MJ, he and the Jackson 5 did the catchiest ever song which is one more chance (back in your heart)

Jailhouse Rock is a goodie. My favourite would probably be Lawdy Miss Clawdy. Others that rank near the top would be If I can dream, Love me, Blue Suede shoes and I want you, I need you, I love you.

Favourites are too hard to decide when you are talking about the King :p It's all so damn good.

Yeah tell me about it haha. I mean I'm not into slow songs really but when Elvis does a song like Blue Hawaii I can't help but love it!

Yeah, im not the biggest slow song fan, but there isn't a single one of Elvis' I dislike.

Nothing funnier than an Elvis movie.

Michael Jackson was much more talented than Elvis ever was. It isn’t even close. Majority of the world would certainly favour MJ over the robotic over hyped singer than was the Queen

So, so good. Picture quality isn't the greatest, but who gives a shit.

Also, it's impossible not to love this performance.

Yeah agree with that. 50's probably was his best music because they weren't his songs and he got paid to sing them instead of the royalties going the original, African-American artists. Payola made Elvis popular and rich.

Jerry Lee Lewis >>>>>>>>>> Elvis.

Having said that, how ****in' cool was Elvis in his '68 comeback special???

Billy Joel > Everyone :)

I'm a Beatles guy but having said that Elvis has some great songs and was bad ass early in his career. You would have to be to be worshipped by Lennon.

His early rockers are great but for me it's the 68 - period that is his best. My all time favourite is Kentucky Rain but I also rate In The Ghetto & Seperate Ways very highly.

And his movies are pure gold..well his 60's ones anyway.

Jailhouse Rock is probably the purest rock and roll vocal track ever laid down on vinyl.

I'm not a huge fan of Elvis but he did have some outstanding songs. My personal favourites are:

Love Me Tender
Heartbreak Hotel
Crying In The Chapel
Ask Me
I Can't Help Falling In Love
Memories
In The Ghetto
Suspicious Minds
The Wonder Of You

Won karaoke again tonight at the pub to "Burning Love"

**** I love Elvis themed nights!

**** I love Elvis!

Nice :thumbsu:. I don't know why, but apparently Elvis never liked that song. I reckon it's great.

I've always wondered if he did fake his death. There are a lot of things that point to it being possible, but it's such a far fetched idea.
The one thing that makes me slightly believe it is how on his tombstone, his middle name, Aron, is spelled Aaron, which is wrong. Surely his family wouldn't let that happen.
He'd be 77 by now, but it would be so awesome if he was alive. But even if he is, no one will ever know :p.
