Guys, we're travelling pretty well at the minute, but what the hell happened today. Not trolling, but still think Carlton are better that that.

Turtle27, good to see a Richmond supporter come over to the Carlton board with a good, positive post and not simply blasting us for our inept performance. Good stuff mate. :)

I think today was mostly psychological. On paper, you would have said Richmond had the goods on us going into the game, especially with the height up forward - and clearly from the opening bounce, Wallace had the Tigers absolutely switched on and then some.

Carlton went out there perhaps thinking it was just going to happen, and simply weren't accountable around the midfield and down back. Richmond did whatever they wanted, simple as that. Having said that, everything worked for them too - but that's what happens when you play the way they did - awesome.

What else is there to be said really? Fevola returns next week, and I'm sure the Blues will be fired up - but Geelong will be a very tough assignment - and a real test to see where Carlton are at. Another belting and the finals are gone for our Blueboys I'd say.

I'm a Carlton supporter to the very end, and will stick with the Blues no matter what. Good on the Tigers for their sensational first half today, they played brilliantly - I'm a big fan of Wallace, so I hope the Tigers continue their push up the ladder!

There were positive signs there for the blues in the 2nd half...carlton outscored richmond in that last quarter.

the tigers really should have put them to the sword but gave up the intensity in the last quarter

we got some respect back today

c u next time

I think it was a reality check for us today. Very embarrising.

The first half, IMO was the worse I have ever seen in any Carlton match I have been to for 15 years. The amount of turnover we had, we were under pressure, but gee, we are meant to have a good midfield!

A lot has to be done this week.

It's beyond me why Setenta never got more game time either.

You guys were hopeless to be honest. Sporn was awful.

Thornton, Simpson and Waite tried all day for you lot. But how could you guys play so bad, Camporeale and Stevens need to learn the defensive side of footy. Stevens didn't give a ******** about Coughlan and Coughlan gave him a ride for his money.

85pts who would have thought. Go Tigers. :D

I agree with you. Sporn has been hopeless for the last month. Id be expecting he will be the first to be getting a run with the Bullants this week.

I was very happy with Simpson, thought he played his best game for Carlton, had the responsibility of kicking out at some stages as well.

Thornton was bloody fantastic I think, I don't care that Richo kicked a few (was expected), but Brett is something special. 250 game player.

Waite needs to learn how to kick. Tried hard all day.

Great to see O'hAlpin get a goal from his first kick in football.

Apart from that, absolute rubbish. Don't let the last quarter fool you - where was the team for 3 quarters? How ********ing hard is it to play man on man footy? The fact that both Campo and Steves got 30 possies or more makes it even worse. More often than not if you see your two good midfielders get 30 or more touches, oyu'd expect a winning margin.

This team needs to show a little bit of anger. Instead of dropping their heads and "expect to give a show" next week, they should be angry and ashamed at themselves. Letting out their anger in the way of aggressive footy is the ONLY way they'll go forward this year. we only showed that aggression ofr half the 1st quarter, and then there was nothing. Nothing.

I feel sorry for players like Lappin and Koutoufides who try hard to win, only for their team mates to let them down.

lance was decent
What game were you watching? Lance was hopeless today and didn't contest strongly enough for a guy of his size. At one point he was calling for the ball on the flank rather than going and contesting for it. The only thing that saved him from looking the worst was he had too many teammates also down. Setanta probably took more contested marks and at least kicked a goal!

I think a lot of us were lulled into believing that the Blues were back after an impressive pre-season. You have to remember that we have one of the youngest and most inexperienced lists in the AFL. We are still in a rebuilding phase and it is going to take time. Today's loss is not acceptable and I am certain the club knows that, but it is not a case of cracking the sads and sending back your membership. With fev back next week hopefully we will make a better showing.

In the short term I say that we look to the positives. I don't think that the clean out has finished and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of the 'rejects' that we picked up last year looking for new jobs at the end of the year. You need to remember that the only one of Carlton's draft picks from last year that has been considered for selection is Eddie Betts. We are going to see the other guys come through hopefully later this year or next year. Richmond picked up some ready to play picks and I would think that the way they and the rest of the team are playing this year is a reflection on their more experienced players revelling in Terry Wallace being at the club, but, in turn you have to think what this says about Danny Frawley "Great bloke but sh*t coach" and the administration that appointed him. We need to look long term and think where Carlton will be in a couple of years and where a team like Richmond will be when a player like Richo is retiring. I am certian that Pagan is one of the best coaches of the modern era and he is the right man to lead us to our next flag.

NO.

Lance was one of your best.

The rest were ********. Lance actually beat a man when he was moved down back in the lasr quarter.

Lance was pathetic - for 3 quarters.

The last quarter he did well, possibly because no-one could be bothered for Richmond.

Lance needs to lift big time.

(We need to trade him at the end of the year)

The best FB in the league in my opinion. Very underrated by the media. Get sick and tired of Fletcher getting accolade upon accolade from the likes of G. Healy et al and Thornton rarely rates a mention. He always gives Richo a run for his money and plays fair too. Hope we can poach him one day. :)

Unless Sporn can re-capture some of the talent he showed in his earlier days with the Blues he could be on his way back to SA next year. He definitely doesn't resmble anything like the Ist round pick we gave up for him in 2000. He is as slow as a wet week. Time for a stint with the Bullants for Trent.

As Pagan said our depth was tested. That match would be the worst match for the year and we can't get worse. I was at the game but i saw some carlton supporters leave at half-time. I left just before the final siren to get away from the supporters:p . But i was really ********ed off. The players were mentally beaten. They never went for the ball in packs, they juts couldn't be stuffed running and they forgot how to play footy. I think we will be fired up for the cats match.

We'll be back!

I'll have no doubt we will be back too Waite 30 and I'm already looking forward to the game on Friday just like the players should be, I'm just ********..ed off because i thought these insipid non competitive performances we dished up on a regular bases last year were behind us. Obviously Not!
