Today was excruciating.

SonofScray summed it up - we're painful to watch at the moment. Our strengths over the past few years when we've been a good side have been our skill by foot and pace. Watching the likes of Gilbee and Cooney turn it over constantly is a sure sign we are in trouble.

The entry into the forward line and the forward line itself were a joke today. We just have no sort of structure at all.

Hudson is just about finished, he was woeful.

Richmond are a huge chance to beat us next week.

Has there been a bigger fall from grace (mentally and physically) in the last 2 years than Gilbee's field kicking and match intensity? Terrible game from a so called leader.

I saw Richmond's final quarter blitz, we are gone next week! The tigers didn't even get off the ground and they were all talking about us next week. :(:(:(
One thing is certain if a desperate Eade rushes back an unfit Hall or Higgins which he normally does.
Richmond will run us off our legs they have looked very slick & quick the past 3 weeks.
We need 22 fit & quick players to be a chance to beat them. They also have a very smart modern day coach at the helm i feel.

I was at Manuka and I have never seen so many unforced errors in an AFL game from BOTH SIDES.
Poor decision making allied to poor execution by hand and foot led to turnovers all over the ground.
Throw in cold pies, warm beer and a shonky hooter and it ended up as the worst game I have ever attended.
Cost me $51.60 to sit in the stand at the Southern end of the Ground..a joke.

Went to the Canberra Knights v Sydney Bears Ice Hockey game tonight and for $18 saw an exhibition of speed, skills and endeavour that were sorely lacking at Manuka earlier in the day.

How many times did Murphy slip over in the last Quarter?

It provides me with no comfort to say this, but I noted this last year on the board. Both Gilbee and Hargrave were already showing signs of sliding last year, IMO. Yes, both had their injury concerns at times. But injuries are part of what slows down aging players.

I always thought that we'd take a step back this year because our real aging concerns weren't Hall, Johnson, Aker etc. They were the next generation - Murphy, Gilbee, Hargrave, Hudson, Gia etc. For too long our side has relied on the class of 99 - 01 to get us over the line. And the fact is, despite the presence of some evergreen champs in the league, that 3 out of 4 players start descending after about 28. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 years to happen fully. But a team simply can't afford to rely on 28+ year olds to deliver all the time.

It's especially a problem when none of our older players were quick to begin with, so when they slow down further they'll really fall off the pace.

Anyway, like I said last year, the real issue for us is how we develop our kids to take over after them. So far I'd say we have mixed results. If those results improve markedly we could be having another dash in 2012-13. If not, then it's going to be a long long haul back into contention, i'm afraid.

Playing you guys with your backs against the wall at Etihad is a completely different kettle of fish then playing Fremantle at the MCG in front of 33.5k Tiger fans and 500 Docker faithful mate. Will not be an easy game for our young cubs so I hope they don't think it will be for my sake

We're now on the same number of wins as Gold Coast. Now that is embarrassing.
The embarrasment started when we were beaten by the over-rated Bumbers in the first round and we have gone down hill since then, beating nothing teams and getting beaten by only one team that you could call a football team. We are now a game below the Tiggers and equal with the Gold Poach, you can't go any lower but I'm sure the Dogs will find a way to do it, they have many times in the past.

I am not embarrassed.

I am not surprised either.

Our position on the ladder last year flattered us behind a cameo 80 goal season by Hall. The signs of a decline were all there and many a thread was screaming to get experience into some younger players.

This is simply the transition period to a new improved Grandfinal Winning Bulldogs

If its like the time we've waited since the last grand final win, the great great great grandfathers of those premiership players haven't been born yet.

Yeah yeah.....you guys will probably not be that much younger than us next week...we already have a lot of kids playing and I reckon next week will have one or two more. Can't keep playing were a young team card anymore...you have to start aiming higher sooner or later.

Well maybe you ought to go and have a look at the rubbish you guys delivered against Richmond. When will your team start winning games in Melbourne and stop living off the home ground advantage you have in Perth? If I supported Freo, It would turn me to watching ice hockey also.

How is it embarrassing?

1. We gift Sydney a home crowd Advantage.
2. We Drop Lake, on top of no Hall, Higgins, Hargrave and Wood.
3. We have two 21 year olds playing CHF and FF.
4. Skinner in game 1. Wallis in game 3. Markovic in game 6 at FB. Stack playing game 12 or something.

And we lost by 7 points against a pretty decent team who got a great run with the umps.

The worst part for mine was the players losing their feet all day...what stops did they have in?

It was never going to be an easy game to win....and we fell short but it's hardly embarrassing...what an over reaction.

It's embarrassing because:

1. Sydney played poorly and still won
2. They should have won by a lot more
3. Too many of our players did not try anywhere near as hard as they should. And that's a real embarrassment to the club and us as supporters

Look it sucks that we lost but we have a couple of players slowly gaining fitness in the side while we have alot out.

We have now lost to sydney and freo by a goal. While we are 2-4 we could easily have been 4-2.

Exactly. Put the razor blades back in the bathroom cabinet for now.

There is alot of Football yet to be played this season and I think there is a huge amount of upside to look forward to from the team.

I thought the players tried as hard as they could but the older players are passed it and the younger players lack experience so it can look like there maybe not trying but I think people over estimate the abilities of players.

I wasn't making any "young side" excuses, I was trying to say I think you guys are a harder game for us then Fremantle. How can we start aiming higher yet? We are 16 months into rebuild mark 6 . Anyway hope its a good game and we get the points.

People on this board are too over the top in their optimism and their pessimism.

But at the moment there is a lot of reason to be pessimistic so I am siding with them. We could be 4-2? Facts are we aren't and nor do we deserve to be. We've been poor.

We look totally bereft of confidence, the forward line set up is a joke, several key players aren't fit and out of form, our game plan is one dimensional and crappy anyway, and last year's mid range sides are surpassing us.

Top 4 is certainly gone, if we don't win this week we can probably kiss finals goodbye. And that's a

It's a long way back from here. We look a shadow of the side we have been in recent years.

Stop making excuses.....you have to start expecting a lot more, otherwise it's too easy to say...."oh well we are rebuilding"....it's just soft!

The differrnce between you and us is that no one expects anything from you...I'm over that crap! Especially on our board from blokes like you.

I dont see anything wrong with what KU9's said...Maybe ease up a bit on the criticism. He just came in to offer an opinion on our board. He can do that if he wants. He didn't say anything unreasonable or trolling, so why the hate?

I was at the game and what stood out to me was we simply did not and we dont work hard enough.

I cannot believe was I saw we just did not work anywhere near hard enough for 3 qtrs and to me thats unacceptable.

The players dont support each other they dont run to create space and help others out. Players dispose the ball and think there job is done.

Get players in that have a work ethic. Players such as Reid and Schofield must come in.

Eade and his assistant coaches are out of form also. I have my concerns about the assistants we have and their ability I am convinced players are left to their own devices on too many occassions and are not sure where to be, when etc. Williams, Dean and Monty played football in a different era this is of a concern.

Where is our constant pressure, harassment and playing for one and another?

Not just for 10min but for the whole game.

How come the clubs that’s are play good footy ATM have this so called forward press, where is OURS ?

Too many players waiting for someone else to do the work!

I keep reading and hearing about us not working hard for each other.
Over the past 3 years- DID WE WORK HARD?
If yes, why are we all of a sudden so lazy?
If not, clearly the previous game plan was reliant on less effort than required today.
