I thought of this thread the other day when I heard one of the three songs that never fail to hit a raw nerve.

Have any of the BF Music Board community got one song, or several songs, that always stir your emotions , reduce you to tears, or something similar?

"Head like a hole" Nine Inch Nails .... perfectly penned for an Ex of mine

If you are reading this Trish ... " I`d rather die , than give you control " ;)

Sinnaed O`Connor - Emporers New Clothes ... one of the best songs ever written . Anyone who has ever done some silly things when they were young , made some mistakes , then spent a long time being judged for them ... will know what i mean .

I reckon anyone who isn`t familiar with this song should get it and have a real good listen to it and really soak in the words .

Perfect thread for A.F.I.

"This Time Imperfect" has always managed to stir something inside of me. Great song.

"Morningstar" does the same.

As I started the thread, i suppose I ought to divulge the three that split me down the middle every time I hear them.

By The Time I Get To Phoenix ( Glen Campbell )

This really kicks like a mule. Usually can't even get past the intro notes without having to either switch it off or get out of view.

The Green Green Grass of Home ( Tom Jones )

Castles In The Air ( Don McLean )

New song by Nickleback - I think it was I will love you

Hunters and Collectors - Throw your arms around me - Acoustic Version particully gets me going

Halelujah - cant remember who sings it

why do you have to list two absolutely amazing songs, and then spoil the whole post by mentioning that godawful band that is nickelback?

you're dead right on the last 2.

add black live when eddie vedder throws in a "we belong together" tag

ps youre also thinking of the jeff buckley version of halleluja

Taylor Dayne - Love Will Lead You Back
F.R David - Words
The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
Aerosmith - I Don't Want to Miss a Thing
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
Peabo Bryson - If Ever You're in My Arms Again

All these have brought a tear to my eye at one stage or another.

Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah....that's like the number one.

And So It Goes - Billy Joel

I Know It's Over - The Smiths

just because you hate a band doenst mean I have too...

Music is personal taste dkward

Julia - Beatles
Living Years - Mike and the Mechanics [wahh!!]
Happy Christmas - John Lennon
Song For Ireland - Mary Black

The band played Waltzing Matilda. It was written (and performed) by Eric Bogle, but I have The Pogues version.
Either way it's one of the most powerful songs ever written.

Hallelujah has to be number one, but I've got a friend who absolutely loses it when she hears "Wild World" by Cat Stevens. To the extent that she will burst into tears if she hears it in a shopping centre. It can be rather embarrassing playing the consoling friend when you aren't exactly sure what's going on.

Funny about that. The Maxi Priest version occasionally tweaks a nerve for me as well, although I think it's more to do with the time it was charting than the actual lyric.

great songs u got there:) i love nickelbacks new song- isnt it called far away
other 2 songs fantastic picks:D

With Or Without You - U2
Slide Away - Michael Hutchence & Bono (I just want to slide away and come alive again.. ) :(
The Same Deep Water As You - The Cure
Untitled - The Cure
To Look At You - INXS
Soul Mistake - INXS
Don't Believe Anymore - Icehouse
God's Top Ten - INXS
Everything's Turning To White - Paul Kelly
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Lovesong - The Cure

Grave Digger - Dave Matthews (accoustic solo version is amazing)
I Want You - Elvis Costello
High and Dry - Radiohead
Drugs or Me - Jimmy Eat World
Down in a Hole - Alice in Chains
Lover You Should have Come Over - Jeff Buckley

Tool - Bottom

I like the general theme, and I appreciate the ability to be able to make a line like 'I have gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain' not sounds ludicrously cheesy. Henry Rollins and Maynard combination = quality.
