Our overall average crowds sits at 52,000.. second only to Pies...

Average Home Crowds up by 14,000

Average Away Game Crowds up by 12,000

Total Average Away Crowds up by 13,000

We have 4 more Block Busters to go with Bombers twice, Hawks and Blues... so we are a chance to keep the average up and have best crowds since 2001.

First half of the year always has higher crowds than second half. Also, at this stage last year, we had played Geelong at KP (max crowd 22,000), and West Coast in Melbourne - we haven't played an interstate side in Melbourne yet this year, and played Geelong at MCG rather than KP.

Patience.

We need to compare the teams we play:

vs Carlton 2013: 80,971
vs Carlton 2012: 78,285

vs Saints 2013: 56,783
vs Saints 2012: 49,337

vs Bulldogs 2013: 45,045
vs Bulldogs 2012: 28,286

vs Collingwood 2013: 81,950
vs Collingwood 2012: 57,268

vs Geelong 2013: 55,625
vs Geelong 2012: 21,952 at skilled

vs Melbourne 2013: 39,148
vs Melbourne 2012: 49,826 and 46,773

The Port game drew 7k more and Freo at Subi was up ~1k too. Overall looking good so far.

If we stay in finals contention all year, we will obliterate last years figures and give 2001 a run for its money. 3 x 80,000+ crowds in the first 9 rounds is pretty impressive stuff! :thumbsu:

It is but its what a Richmond in contention will do. I am a bit of a stat nerd on attendances and the attendances this year are in no way surprising. All that has happened is we have been reasonably competitive onfield.

Long term it is actually quite clear how the various teams draw if on a same form, same venue, same ladder position, same expectation basis.

Collingwood marginally ahead of Essendon. We are a bit south of Essendon and a bit north of Carlton with a gap to Hawthorn and the rest. In recent seasons mid ladder Carltons have been good for 1,000,000 at the gate. A mid ladder Richmond ( if we maintain position ) will easily achieve the same and will in fact do better on a same venue same opposition basis as was seen when we comfortably outdrew Carlton V Melbourne same timeslot same venue.

Richmond are the third biggest draw at the gate in the league and should be good for 1,000,000 in any season with a semblance fo competitiveness.

The only thing we can be happy about right now :(
Every year good crowd figures is all we can hold our hat on to. I'm sick & fed up with our losing culture. We continue to be perpetual strugglers no matter what players we draft or who ever coaches us.

30 years of this is way too long.
