I am wondering if Franklin will have a case to answer for his blow to the left side of Lonergan's face. The Umpire paid the free kick and said "That was uncalled for...".

I only ask the question because it looked like the blow was to the head and the AFL consider the head sacrosanct (when it suits them). Buddy does not have a good record of late before the MRP.

I don't ask this question with an axe to grind but I think that it will come under scrutiny.
A case to answer or just a free kick?

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Mooney would get 2.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

with buddy's track record you would have to say yes. probably 1-2 weeks. didn't think there was all that much in it, but buddy is very careless at the best of times, let's his emotions get in the way of his talent.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

If he had the option to tackle (which im not exactly sure if he did or not?) and instead chose to belt Lonergan across the side of the head then yes he definately has a case to answer. Even so, it didn't look very good.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

It was worth a free kick, that's about it.

I had less of a problem with it than i did with Jordan Lewis' classless carry on after kicking a goal.
Incredibly poor form.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Would think it would be a week but with his poor recent record this will get bumped to two

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

I was happy with the downfield free kick, and didn't see that anything more was necessary. The MRP could reprimand him I guess, but with his record it'd turn into a week or two and that would be over the top.

Lewis is a tool for that.... sure, if your getting the better of your opponent then get into them (and he was getting the better of Enright) - but it doesn't need to be like that.

As for Buddy - I don't have a problem with it, was happy with the free kick.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Shockingly careless after his recent suspensions from bumps that went wrong. I felt those penalties were quite harsh, but if he was put out for those I can't see how he won't be suspended for this one.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

He is an idiot for doing it with his record. God knows what the MRP will do though.

Lewis is a ****wit.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Will get one or two due to his record. Sign of the times more than anything.

As for Lewis's carrying on, I can remember a young Nathan Brown tounting us as he put the doggies up by a few goals early in a match at Princess Park. Cats ran over the top of them and gave a bit back in the process. Certainly shut him up and the result today should have tought Lewis a lesson or two about mouthing off.

It would have been nice to see Boris return the favour on the siren but our club has class and our players don't feel the need to mouth off when we embarrass an opponent.

Very proud of the way we've carried ourselves throughout our period of success and today was no exception. :)

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

The only thing saving Buddy is that the contact may be deemed as not enough. It was otherwise a blantant cowardly snipers act. Don't understnad why a players as talented as Buddy does stuff like that.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

No he doesn't.

Might have a case to answer with his teammates, after going back, waiting, and then bombing out of bounds on the full in the final seconds on the game.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

not even going to read the thread. 2 weeks, it's the way they roll.
Should have been a free and fifty. And that's it.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Should be no more than a free, but with his record he will probably get suspended.

I am as worried about Enright (I think it was him) where he went to spoil and ended up punching the guy in the head instead. Could have a case to answer.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

He must be building up to the 50% loading that baker has now, isnt it 7 weeks in one year to get it? Buddy has gotta be careful.

Boris returned the favour by smacking Lewis across the head in a marking contest that surely will get him a week or a reprimand at best....was good to see :):):)

Baker would have got 2 for that..Buddy should have been pulled up on many occassions involving Scarlett today.. Scarlett showed no emotion lol. Loved it.

Culture! Also Batemans cheating to con a 50 from Byrnes was pathetic and telling. Mind you what do you expect from Hawthorn? Was appalled to hear Brereton on SEN this week suggesting the way to stop Geelong players shepherding and blocking for their team mates was to knee them!!!

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

I would rather see players go for stuff like that (because it was 100% intentional, weak, stupid and unnecessary) than some of the reports that happen when the bloke is going for the ball.

I dont care what he gets, because it wont affect us, but hitting a bloke in the head when he isnt even facing you is a god act at any time. Nothing tough about it!

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Good point Scotty. Cheap shots, regardless of the impact or damage, should be punished.
