However, the changes in place now, with our list profile mean we can orchestrate some serious deals that will make the Franklin trade seem like a teenie bopper without the 9 year risk!!!


Without mentioning names consider this!

At the end of the year, if suits player and both clubs for win win scenario we can trade some of established players to genuine contenders for draft picks. in 2015 we run with a 95% cap!

End of 2015 we target some big names and not just one.

Put it this way, maybe RFC should make a call to a few guys and say look, with our list of Cotch, Lennon, Martin, Vlastuin, Elis, Conca, Rance and young support cast like Griffiths etc... maybe you guys should hold off putting pen to paper!

If we went down this route draft picks in 2014 and 2015 would be an absolute premium!!!

Should we go after Dangerfield and Fyfe next year via FA?

Them joining Cotch, Martin and Lennon and co does sound juicy and would do wonders for list flexibility!

We could play Danger FF at times, Fyfe at half forward at times, give Doc Martin a chop out!

In 2016 Freo will need a rebuild with Pav and Sandilands close to retirement, probably look to chase Omeara and co later.

Adelaide running mid range atm, probably need a rebuild for a little while before targeting FA agents of their own!

Fyfe, Dangerfield and Martin all around the same age , bit like the Heat, Cotch a fraction older, help themselves get the best out of themselves career wise in the same window.

I assume to do so we run a 95% cap in 2015, 105% in 2016 and trade a few players out end of this year to do so and get good draft picks that develop well for the 2016 year! After 2016 some list refinement naturally would have to take place but with that core group you would have serious contender clout trying to attract the right players we want to add to and improve our list!

Fact is Danger, Fyfe, Cotch, Martin and the rest around the same age is serious weaponry in anyones language. It would be hard to attract one but if you said to each you could get both that, IMO, is a different proposition! You would have to pay them good coin, not insane coin but it would have to be up there and to do so we would have to let go quality this year supposedly to real contenders like Hawthorn , Collingwood or others. Any players deciding to leave of quality surely would want to go to clubs that are contenders, fit their role so the benefits to all are mutual for all clubs and players except there would be a timing difference. 2015 could happily be another rebuild year before we target FA!

I think keeping them together is possible for a while. The climate has changed though and there will be a lot more players moving in and out of clubs going forward. I am thinking their ability, age, and synergy with our young list and profile is too good an opportunity to dismiss. The stars are aligning a little and we can always trade one or the guns out later if need be if they want and it suits us. Having that type of quality attracts others to the club to and our profile would really rise as well!
