Data from footywire. To check the draft order (updated weekly) see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

This guys is clearly trying to troll. It’s all good, we’ll be back at the same place next year and Dunkley could even be cheaper. The tales of holding someone to their contract against their will and that player staying long term are few and far between. Will be a very interesting year for the dogs next year IMO.
The tales of in-contract stars demanding a move to a team in the same state start and end with Dunkley IIRC.

I think Zerk-Thatcher and Ambrose should be looking around for opportunities. Don't think either are in the best 22 plans, but both could be valuable to the right clubs. We wouldn't get much for either of them.

Can’t see BZT getting a gig anywhere. Ambrose would be great for a side like the dogs to free up Keath to play in a more attacking by role.

BZT is underrated by Essendon fans.
He's probably our 8th best defender and just comes in when there's an injury right now. I would like to see him and Stewart get an extended run together in defence.

When healthy.

Hurley, Hooker, Ridley, Laverde, Hind, Redman, Heppell, Stewart,

Of course he is not competing with half of them.
Hooker is cooked except in his current role. I'd personally have Zerk a better defender than most there but he's barely acceptable with ball in hand. Fair list though.

BZT going about 20% contest loss rate this year. Hurley and Hooker were going at about 33% the last few years. There is a reason we've moved both of them forward in their twilight. He is definitely going to be behind Reid though. Still more than happy to keep him as depth for many years.

Hooker isn't anymore. Too slow now.
You knew what I meant scallywag
Of course, I was trying to let that through to the keeper.

In the end I think he has a place dependant on match ups. I think he has obvious match-ups against Adelaide (Himmelberg), Brisbane (McStay), Collingwood (Cameron), Freo (Treacy), Gold Coast (Day), Hawthorne (Lewis), North (Larkey), Richmond (CCJ), Sydney (McLean) and West Coast (Williams) but not against the other sides from my viewing of them. I think our defence is better balanced with him in but that's just me.

How Tall is Ambrose? Dogs need another 196cm+ defender to take the lockdown role on the top forward. The only exception is a Morris type.

193cm but he has had plenty of success playing taller. He’s very much in the Rance/May mould the way he uses his body to spoil the opponent.

And me. We can unite against any one who disagrees.

BZK has performed well most times he plays at AFL level, has dominated at VFL level, and would be around 22yrs old. So young for a tall.

I think there would be a lot of interest. Which unfortunately wouldn't translate into good compensation. :(
The ones named for tomorrow.
You mean including smalls whose spot he'd never be competing for? Seems like a silly basis.

Here’s my take on BZT.

Pros: Excellent contested mark, great leap, has gotten stronger and will continue to do so

Cons: Is a poor user of the ball, is very slow and lacks the ability to play on a wide range of forwards.

For mine I just don’t think he has enough to work with to warrant persevering. I wouldn’t be against offering him a 1 year deal but I’d be disappointed if Reid didn’t fly past him in the pecking order very shortly.
