The coaches seem pretty positive about a pretty average display IMO.

I thought we were lucky to come away with the points. If we are only a goal better side then the dogs than we are in for a world of pain. Just some guys arent anywhere near it at the moment. Watson, Carlile, Hocking ect. We look flat and like we have no energy, unsure if we are being trained too hard throughout the week?

Would like to see TBC in next week. Dont think we can afford to rest either of Fletch or Winderlich. Im not confident about the lions due to past history and also playing at the Gabba.

Id be looking to send out close to our best side. Is Myers close? Just play all the talls and sub through the 3rd quarter TBC probably ideally. Send Ashby and Zerrett back even though i thought they were pretty good. Bring Gleeson back. If Howlett needs to make way then he does.

Based on what?
1. He knows how to lead
2. He knows when to lead
3. He knows where to lead
4. He knows how to kick straight
5. He's the best contested mark in the side
6. He's had the best season statistically as a KPF out of any player at the club, in his first year of spending basically any time as a forward

He set the tone in the second half with that dive onto the ball between those Dogs to push the ball to our advantage. He was solid and determined, needs a chop out in the ruck tho.

Ryder pretty much saved the game for us in the last couple of minutes with a snatch from the ruck and a slick snap that fan the boundary and gained 60 metres.

A lot of second and third efforts all night, thought he was excellent

Where's Paddy Ryder at? He's done nothing of note all season.
He's the new ruck coach, haven't you heard? Have to love the coaches clip on the EFC website, dead set hilarious,,, If bomber has lost this playing group (according to rines) Imagine how Carlton feel about Malthouse, be sure, everyone who is actually involved with EFC loves Bomber Thjompson as the legend he is....Some people here are not worthy of being called supporters, they're more like Caro, just bitter critics. learn about teamwork and supporting your team...

All fair calls. I also have to concede the point about him rucking pretty much single handed so far this season. Incorrect call on my part.

Apparently Paddy's the 2nd most influential ruckman in the comp according to champion data (according to average hitouts to adv %, marks, disposals, tackles and goals)

In what way would you say that Carlisle had more impact than Crameri?
For starters, he created the goal for Goddard... plus he signed a contract with us....that was the difference for me, now let's here the counter argument.. What impact did Crameri have? Well played Michael Hurley, called him out months ago and absolutely pulled his pants down..

I walked out of the ground with a smile on my face. It's a good feeling seeing your team win live, no matter how ugly.

With Watson not dominating our midfield looks ordinary. We got beaten in the midfield tonight which is not a huge surprise, but we also got beaten on the outside and didn't spread very well.

I think this is why Dempsey has been brought in early. We have very little run and outside speed which makes us predictable going forward. Might be time to try Aylett and Dalgleish when he's ready. Gleeson and maybe Ambrose will help. Or Jetta, LOL just kidding.

Felt sorry for Carlisle tonight, played a thankless role while Gurley, Fletch and Hooker mopped up. He'd love to have been back there. Keep trying kid, you'll get there.

I think the lack of legitimate 2nd ruck is what keeps him a bit under the radar. Has more opportunity to rest forward and impact the scoreboard when Bellchambers is in, would be spending more time on the bench to rest when JD is his backup.

Played a very smart game against Minson. I think he's set up perfectly to rest forward and impact the scoreboard when Bellchambers is back. It's that direct goal involvement that he's lacked a little that distracts from his efforts, I think. But I feel comfortable in stating that with both he and Bellchambers playing, his output will become not only stronger, but more emphatic.

Haven't seen the game, but Melksham is one of our better kicks he shouldn't be tagging, Howlett should be tagging instead of Melksham.

Can we play our best forward next week? Might help
I agree that he's our best KPF but lets make sure he's in form before we play him eh? The last thing we need for our structure is an out of form, unfit lumbering giant up forward getting rebounded. If he plays well tomorrow he's in, if not give him time. We looked slow enough tonight.

Suprised Melksham isn't getting any heat. Seems to be coasting through games again.

performing more of a defensive role, and getting his zip back

I think Melksham tagging is about educating him as much as anything TBH
For some time now there seems to be an attitude brewing among some supporters that Fletch ought to be moved on as he is harming the team structure. Well I've been saying one thing to these people all year and I'll continue to say it now, F*ck Off.
Honestly, I have never heard that from any of the Bomber supporters I know and talk to. Never.

No! we need inside mids getting in there and being accountable! Not mediocre seagulls. Melksham has some good scalps as a tagger (eg. Griffen) and is underrated as a contested midfielder. He won our contested poss. for something like 5 or 6 games in a row last year, hes just needs to play into some form.
