To digress for a second. In world war 2, the Japanese on land when things got desperate would band together, the officers would get their samurai swords out and they would run at allied machine guns yelling Banzai. The result of these Banzai attacks was largely predictable and it was frightening to watch on occasion but usually ended badly.

Its application to this situation is obvious.

Except Hird refuses to charge

You can tell things aren't going well in court, I AM THE LAW has said stuff all about the appeal.

This:

"
I dont think anyone would argue that the whole thing wasnt dodgy.
The mistake that hird and his legal team to be making is that they think people care.
The overwhelming view from anyone in legal examining this case seems to be yeah they did I wrong, it was dodgy but so what they got evidence out of it and it allowed the investigation to "find the truth". A very strong view of " means to an end".
I struggle to see how Hird can win. Maybe he just has to see it through. It must be a horrible feeling knowing that things went on that shouldnt have yet you are powerless to resist because no one has the balls to call out the unjust nature of the whole thing."

On a serious level, although I do like a troll of Essendon supporters, I suspect that that Hird will get more traction in his appeal than he got at the earlier court hearing. I suspect he will still lose but ASADA may get criticised heavily on the way through.

But fear not some eyes are starting to open as to what James may have cost the players by having his ego stroked:
could this scenario occur? The ASADA investigation/process is put on hold until after Hird's case is decided. The result goes against Hird. The players then face charges and lose copping a 6 month ban, but rather than miss a few games of early 2015 they are forced to miss all of 2015 because Hirds case delayed their hearing until early 2015.

But the legal aid lovers still rule
Extremely unlikely. Any potential player bans that see them miss matches will be appealed and appealed and appealed to exhaustion. This scenario would drag out for some time.

That the players are under provisional suspensions while their appeals are being heard doesn't seem to resonate with some I guess

The Kool Aid is still strong though
Cases have been argued, waiting for the judges ruling.

Need 2 of 3 to come on board, but 1 of 3 would be enough to move proceedings up to next court.
Get your tickets to the High Court ready folks

Most telling thing said in the whole 2 days.
When asked that the club and players want to move onto the next stage of the process.
Tird's lawyer-"So What"......
Darnedest thing said in this entire drug abuse scandal.

Think you've forgotten he's our senior coach. We stick by our own.

Whether on field, in court or wherever, we stand united as one and fight and back each other up. We help our mates. It's what makes us strong and defines our character.

We had a great day today.

Koolaid is extra potent today.

Aspiring *essendon board members say the darndest things:
Cunningham voiced his support for Hird on Tuesday, saying: "From my understanding, James Hird has the full support of the board, the players are playing for him and he's a great coach. So why on Earth would I want to walk in to an organisation that I love, if I am fortunate enough to get elected, and try to tear its heart out by sacking a bloke who has the full support of the board and the unconditional support of its players?"

This about Thompson leaving:

"Yeah, but I'm not sure I'd trust him in a senior development role either. I reckon we'd have been best served having him work under Neeld's direction to ensure nothing too hairbrained took place while getting the benefits of his footballing nous. It's a professional game now and there simply isn't room for eccentrics like Bomber to work unsupervised."

As against keeping Hird......

If this is what I see on the Main Board I'm scared to even enter the Essendon board

James Hird >>> Bomber

It's 2014 guys.

Bomber is done as a senior coach.

You asked:

"With now Bomber out of the picture i want the Asada crap to finish and Hird stays as coach for farking years."

Unfortunately they will have to settle for the A team of Harvey, Craig and Neeld :drunk:

Apparently having been previously sacked is a prerequisite of the job

Then there is this cracker which was part of the club released statement:

"
In a statement released by the club, Campbell said they were unable to find a suitable role for him.

"There were many factors that were considered but at the end of the day any role needed to have purpose and add meaningful value to our football club," Campbell said.
"We held extensive negotiations with Mark, but we were not able to reach a position that would satisfy both parties and in the end, we had to make a difficult decision in the best interests of all parties and move forward with planning for the 2015 season."
Little took issue with Thompson for his failure to meet the deadline to pay his $30,000 AFL-sanctioned fine, a failure the chairman believes has embarrassed the club."

The irony....

Replies to a post on Facebook about wishing Bomber had stayed:
Your in the minority. Hirdy is a genuine guru. He built the list Bomber used last year.
But the board offered Bomber a role, he refused it.

And lets not forget who brought Dank and Robinson over from Geelong. Not saying its his fault, but people do seem to have short memories!
I'm on Jimmys side....not that anyone gives a fat rats
Concur with all of the important points in your rant.

One of the points some of those critical of Hird keep making is that the club is greater than one individual. Well, yes, it is.

And it works in reverse. Your support of the club is greater than your support (or otherwise) of one individual. Especially now when the club needs us most.

As for the less important point of who the coach should be: personally, I cannot see how you can assert Hird's mind isn't on the job. Look at the trade period; the coaching appointments...All continuing...

What you are implying, I suppose, is that he should drop his court action. While I agree, it is his decision. And he needs to live with it. As he will. But let's not pretend he is not doing his job as well.

Nor should we forget that he took a penalty he does not believe he warranted to spare the club.

For that alone, I will support him. And his performance in 2013 warrants him continuing.

Until there is evidence that he actually did something wrong, he has my support.
I think what the players want is more important than what we want....and they seem to want Jimmy
I don't think bomber was that good a coach last year. In my opinion, it started well with a focus on a possession style of game, which was unraveled in a 3 quarter barrage on anzac day, at which point he lost interest, resulting in mediocre performances until he finally threw caution to the wind against Richmond. From there, rather than returning to the possession style game that had us 90 seconds from beating hawthorn, we remained rudder less, effectively playing without a significant game plan for the rest of the year. Don't worry about whether Hird has his mind on coaching - bomber is like Malcolm Blight - potentially brilliant - likely distracted

Bomber was obviously the problem....
