100% agree. Awesome awesome show. Amy Lee is brilliant. Anyone got a list of the set. I wasnt keeping track. Band on before them were awesome too :thumbsu:

Evanescence are weak as p!ss :thumbsd:. If you want REAL gothic, female fronted Heavy Rock, you must check out Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Leaves Eyes and Aussie bands like Antonamasia and Enter Twilight. All make Evashytance sound like nothing.....

Meh. Its more the how good she is live thing that got me to go. She sounds better live then on the bloody CD I reckon :thumbsu: . I was pretty impressed and considering I was given the tickets for free it was a great night out

To be honest, If I'd got tix for free I woulda gone too, so fair enough.

Pay to go see 'em? Not with a gun to my head......

Yeah, had forgotten they had supported. Seem to be a bit past their peak, recording-wise. But I saw them live with Cog at the Forum a while back, and they still most definitely have it live. I enjoyed their set even more than Cog's and Cog are my favourite Aussie band!!!!

They are just so awesome live. Even people I know who hate there music ive taken to a concert and they have loved it.

Sure Shihad were supporting. I'd thought they gone to the wildnerness to record a new album or something its been so quiet.

Toogood, what a champion. Shihad live are right up there with the best.

And cog, Certainly working long and hard on the new album . . .

According to the lads recording for the next album production begins in March. Havnt announced any other details about the album yet.

I actually think Cog have only just started recording. Up until a few weeks ago, they were stuck in Oz with Visa issues......

Maybe they dont. Maybe they want a rock band with a bit of attitude but not complete goth-freaks.

I'm no Evanescence fan but I can see how they get their popularity.

Because some people like their "heavy" () rock music neutered and simplified, with an attractive girl out front? That's not an argument in their favour.

I agree their last album was a bit patchy, but as polished as it was, I personally really dug the Pacifier album. I seem to be in the minority there though.

But i saw Shihad not even a month ago at Ding Dong (one of the best shows i've been to in ages) where they road tested a stack of new stuff and going by what i heard i'm pretty confident in saying that their next album will be a massive return to form. Every tune i heard was an absolute hook fest.

Anyway, sorry to hijack the Evanescence thread. I personally wouldnt cross the road to see them, but i have mates who went to the Melbourne show and they all said they were remarkably professional and sounded great.

The same mates had also never seen Shihad before and all came away as new fans of them too :thumbsu:

carlos, the pacifier album was easy to bash for alot of people because of the name change etc, but there are some great songs on that CD... they do sound a bit too polished on the album, but the songs themselves are awesome... comfort me, run, bullitproof, semi normal, nothing are all great rock tunes...

and glad to hear you made it to see the boys carlos, i'm on the other side of the world at the moment unfortunately, so I couldn't make it along to the gig... but i've heard all the new songs they've been playing and i am looking forward to the new album... again this new record is going to have a completely different sound to previous releases...

Yeh they're so totally weak dude

All those bands you named are ******** as is Evanescence.

I didnt say it was in their favour as musicians, I said thats why they're popular.

Evanescence are a little too soft for me, but I can understand why they are popular, as they aren't too bad, and quite easy to listen too. I'd much rather 'weightier' bands like Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Tristania and Within Temptation. Also Amy Lee's voice has nice range, but doesn't compare to Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) and Sharon del Adel (Within Temptation).

Saw them last night and it was a top show, the vocals were that good i was wondering if they were pre-recorded. They were definately better live and the band kicked out some awesome sound.

I don't even think a band like Lacuna Coil is that much 'heavier' (although Nightwish definitely are). They just do it HEAPS better......
