I think I've seen her on TV, it'd be pretty impressive to see in the flesh. Didn't they use her to scare off pigeons or am I mixing that up with talk they were going to do something similar at the MCG?

She just does a few laps then ****s off. I imagine all the pigeons in the area would scarper while she's around but Subi/Optus/WACA don't get covered in pigeons the way the MCG does. I'm waiting for the day someone sneaks in a live mouse then releases it onto the field. Surely instinct would kick in and she'd dive down and get it.

The seagulls here are about the only one's who don't like the new Adelaide Oval There'd be hundreds of them sunning themselves in the outfield before the renos, now you barely see one.

Anyone own exotic or unusual pets, like snakes, turtles, rats, ferrets, etc?

I had a bearded dragon,
Had lots of pets in our household as a kid. I remember there was a bearded dragon once, somehow it went missing one day, remember looking for it everywhere outside , ready to give up stop looking, turns out it was right by my leg in some grass and I would have nearly stepped on it, if my older brother had not pointed out he just saw it. Looked as ugly as all ****, but seemed quite docile from memory.

Don't pet turtles live as long as people? Would be neat if you got one as a kid and still had it as an old person.

Remember my dad worked with somebody from a well off family from some Pacific Island nation. Apparently the house/estate had a pet tortoise that had been in the family longer than anyone living.

Had an eastern long neck turtle as a kid. Quite a zero fuss pet tbh, besides the occasional tank clean. I housed him with freshwater fish that bred like crazy so it provided a self-sustaining ecosystem for him to feed off. He mostly preferred their company though, so put in plants for him to munch on.

The family moved houses once I grew up so we had to find him a new home as we couldn't fit the massive 6ft tank. As a kid I had the dream of growing old together and then eventually building a ripper outdoor pond for the fella once I had my own house.

hermit crabs

Underrated.

Staying aquatic, I was at a duty free shop in Port Vila a few years back and they had tanks set up with alternating colour lights and a couple of jelly fish... looked amazing. I think they have a bigger version of this at the Melbourne Aquarium.

I had a bearded dragon, a couple of rats, three ferrets and at one point turtle-sitted when my brother went overseas.

I'd love to own a fox, I hear they've got personality like dogs but move around more like a feline but sadly it's not legal here. Sadly these are not legal either:

A friend of mine who is in his late 60s still has a cockatoo that he had as a kid.

I remember going to a pet shop in England and they were selling galahs for 800 quid a go. You can wonder through the south parklands here on a good day and net yourself enough birds to buy a house over there.

Heh

I don't even have to go that far

Two steps out the front door will do it
