With Tippett more or less confirmed for Port, what are we hoping for from him?

Personally, I'm thinking we'll play him for three quarters (assuming no injuries) as a FF/second ruck, and I'm expecting roughly 5 marks, 10 touches, 10 hitouts, and maybe a goal. He's been a fair time out of the game, so I think we need to keep our expectations low.

After a while in the team, I'm hoping Mummy will come back and Tippett will end up a full time FF, at which point I'll be hoping for 2-3 goals a game.

Thoughts?

I would agree with that. I don't expect him to set the world on fire but I would love for him to provide a strong target at full forward.

Also this isn't to do with Tippett as such but I do not want our midfield to become Tippett focused. Our strength is the amount of goal kickers we have and I do not want 50% of our forward 50 entries going straight to Tippett.

Just hoping he enters and exits Adelaide without being shanked by a disgruntled Crow supporter. A few pack marks and a goal wouldn't go astray either.

The first couple of weeks not expecting too much. He' been out for 11, just to get the feel of The swans style so a first game a run in the ruck might not hurt so he gets into the groove.

After a few weeks though yes big wages big expectations.

I'm expecting very little. More than 10 touches, a goal and a handful of marks would be a great sign given how long he's been out for as far as I'm concerned.

I'll be most interested to see if he can tackle effectively. The coaches seem to demand the talls to chase and tackle with vigour so we see him running and working hard in the forward line, we can be pretty happy with that. As CAS said, he has to learn how we play and where the ball will be going in certain situations but one thing that he can control as soon as he gets in the side is how hard he chases.

Not expecting miracles in the first month especially since it looks like he'll be playing seniors immediately(with mummy out) without any games since the prelim. So at first it will be just play his role and contest well.

He's getting paid for more then to just "play a role" though, so after he's got a few games under his belt he needs to really be one of the top-liners in the side and play well most weeks (obviously like everyone there would be an odd quiet game here and there).

I would expect him to still play the similar game style we have now. I am hoping he pushes up to the wings and forward flanks for the outlets, or draws players up the ground and then piss bolts back. Our strength is an unpredictable forward line, and i would hate us to be too Tippett-centric.

When we get our traditional forward set up when numbers are even, that's when I want to see the big contested marks coming out. Swans don't need superstars, only an even contribution and role players.

Stats wise a pass mark for his first game 15 odd touches 2 goals 10 hit outs and a few tackles

The big question mark i have always had on tippett is consistency, he should be coming into his prime.

I think its about work rate week 1, play his role, ideally going into finals you would like to see him playing 11 games and kicking 22-30 goals. If he can snag a 4 goal game here or there but when he isnt hitting the scoreboard, get involved, get others in the game i will be happy.

Then he is cherry ripe for finals.

But seriously missing 11 weeks hurts

Missing 11 weeks could be a blessing in disguise he'll be fresh at finals time

Will find out.

Of course there are always some people from certain groups who beleve he is a concussion away from retirement

I don't expect too much. He needs to present as a target, crash packs, chase hard, look dangerous and keep the no.1 defender occupied so Reid can have some fun (if he's back). Initially I think Reid could be the one who shines.

I'm not too bother about his first 6 weeks, due to the fact he will be more than a little rusty. As long has he's in good touch and match fit by finals il be happy. Wil be happy with 3 goals a game in finals
