Into the eleven millions we go and it's the Hawks who beefed (poultried?) up their squad in the off season. Two of the recruits, lifer larrikin and veteran Biggie, have returned taking some of the squeeze off their wage budget.

A significant amount of East Side's salary cap goes to their top-five paid players who, no surprises, are all 's' or 'a tier'. Strigoi's 1.1 million dollar pay cheque is not surprising as it wouldn't have been an inexpensive exercise to extract her from the Dragons. What is somewhat surprising is Tarks is on less than a million, however there is probably good money post-qooty on the speaking circuit talking about being the first to 1000 goals etc.

Zoops, TY24 and Giant Strides have all had impressive seasons so are likely to negotiate larger contracts for season 38. Even so, there will be enough in the bank to recruit another big name to the Eyrie. One wonders, what do Callums Guns and por_please_ya have up their sleeves...?

Now we're into the six teams who have maxxed, or are close to, their salary cap of 12 million. The Demons have benefited greatly from having lifer Headless' salary off their books and half of veteran Van_Dyke's.

Looking at some of these salaries, it appears that the Demons have taken a collective pact to accept a smaller salary for team stability amongst a smattering of creative accounting. That's not to say their players aren't heartily paid with the Demons are the first club named so far in this analysis with three million dollar players. Then follows another ten players on at least half a million. At the other end of their list, the Dees have quite a long tail of inexpensive players with seven players on 150k or less.

The loss of Tarks in the offseason seems to have assisted the funding of up and comers Gralin and moginie. However, many Dees are going to have to continue to forgo possible open market salaries to maintain their current squad. Will anyone wander?

The 'qooty factory' Bombers have returned their salary cap to nearly 100% after a couple of seasons where they've lost barely anyone to trades or termination. They've got one salary off their books in club stalwart, iDon.

The hallmark of the Bombers list is the proliferation of 'a' and 'b tier' players who command strong salaries. Skipper Pugsley gets tasty renumeration to be one of the higher paid players in the league. He's the only million dollar Bomber though with thirteen further teammates in the 450-950k region. This includes MayTheNorthBeWithU who only cost 450k to extract from the Wonders...unless the SMH headline from a few weeks ago was about MTNBWU, as an older sibling suggested to The Files.


The Bombers are on the verge of some salary relief with club legend and video enthusiast, KohPhi, fast approaching the 300 milestone. That may not be enough though as the Baghdad folk are always an active team in off seasons. It's probable the top end will be looking at wage cuts as the Bombers bring in their newest batch of recruits.
