I disagree with the 2012 comparison. After Round 19 we'd won 8 games, not 11. Finals were long gone.

Just checking now. In rounds 16, 17, and 18 we lost to Gold Coast, North, and Carlton by a combined margin of 10 points. Win those games, we make the finals.

Beveridge will become next seasons Hinkley. Kissed on the dick with a soft draw and will come back down to reality next season with a harder draw and clubs putting a bit more work into them. That said, he's hardly put a foot wrong and the dogs list looks chocked full of talent.
This still remains to be seen. LB has the balls to move big names on and also drop players
The rfc still loves list cloggers and over rates mediocrity

You honestly believe the club has added no talent from when Dimma took over?

"No talent" would be a bit harsh. Most of the children at draft camp would have some talent. But where I think we definitely come up short is star quality. This is what our results say. We are only doing a ****teenth better than we were three years ago.

But we didn't. Would be more interesting to compare the ladder positions to those we played in 2012 to those we just played in rounds 17,17 and 18 in 2015.

This side has considerably more talent than in 2012. No question.

Well maybe you just can't see it ;)

See what? After 19 rounds, we have 44 points. Two more than 2012. We might beat Gold Coast and Essendon and increase the margin to 10, but really? Gold Coast and Essendon. Hardly clubs that have covered themselves in glory with their exploits in recent times.

Spin it any way you like. There's bugger all difference between 2012 and 2015.
How are factual ladder positions spin? Anyway, we'll agree to disagree, and I'll leave you to your misery and move on.

Yeah yeah, the situation is almost exactly the same.... nothing is different

I am usually a glass half full type when it comes to this club but i find it hard not to be underwhelmed
a little by where we are at. 5-6 years of rebuilding and we seem to be nothing more than a middling 6-10 position type of side.
I know that sounds harsh given some of the wins this year but overall thats where i see us at.

Desperately need to develop and/or recruit 4-5 quality players to take the next step , and it has to be soon.

Yeah but we didn't. Your comparison is just flat out dumb. We are 3 games in front of where we were at the same stage of 2012.....

But here are some equally pointless comparisons for you:

In 2001 we had 48 points after 18 games, went on to a prelim final
In 2006 we had 36 points after 18 games, missed the finals (finished with 44 points)
In 1983 we had 24 points after 18 games, we missed the finals (finished with 28 points)
In 1975 we had 40 points after 18 games, made finals and were knocked over by North
In 2013 we had 48 points after 18 games, lost to 9th in a final.....

All wonderful comparisons but ultimately don't make a lick of difference to anything whatsoever..... although 2013 would be far more relevant than 2012....

Fair go, I don't see what is "dumb" about comparing where we are now with where we were three years ago. Not only is our number of wins similar, the fact is that we lost a bunch of close games three years ago and if you take that into consideration, too, our position is frighteningly similar. Perhaps it just doesn't suit those who have bought the club's spin that it's different this time round.

If we finish between fifth to eighth then we have not progressed since 2013 as we will be in the same situation ( an EF
Really we should be a top four side by now , but we've failed to fill in our gaps and this is why we still lack consistency under DH and why we still lose games by making stupid basic school boy errors . Play monkeys get bananas
Dying to see when Newman Houli Hampson Lloyd TV Chaplin and Hunt can be upgraded as they're just taking us nowhere
Also pressure on BEllis and Conca to improve their awareness hardness and skills must be done otherwise they will just cruise all their time at pro
Too many guys just lacking polish on our list walk into our best 22 and this means we are at risk of not going anywhere
Our bottom 8 are ok when good , but destructive when off. This is why we fail to kick a decent score weekly and always beatable as little class is on the park and a team held together by a couple of mids with a very good defence and a couple of forwards
I can still see this as a false dawn bc our list still has massive flaws and I'm not sure if we are moving quick enough to address these issues in comparison to our major competitors.
Still amazed how the Dogs can get Boyd ( success or bust irrelevant) yet we lure DFA Hunt and he's played every game before youth as well as signed up for two more years. Says it all Really. As already mentioned we are still heavily reliant on Terry's picks in Lids Cotchin jack and Rance with a few dudes added by DH , but not enough to challenge the big boys.
Come at me all you like but this is the stark reality and we really haven't gone places since 2012 as we are all hanging onto our proverbials saying will we make it ? Rather than saying we will cruise in and finish first to fourth .same fears also arise when we go into games as we all lack confidence on which Rfctigers will turn up. Gold Coast will be backing themselves this week as they know this
This is the reality at where we are are at . This slowly slowly business doesnt work in this ruthless competition as there are 17 competitors wanting to go faster faster
As previous posters have said we need at least five more guns and going by previous years I'm not confident we will get them

Every year you don't win the flag is a false dawn. Did this really need a bump?
