Multiplat Far Cry 5

Picked this up for $25 last week, never played a Far Cry game before. Am enjoying it but the story is getting in the way a bit. Every now and then I get captured out of the blue and have to endure some cutscenes and a bit of time on rails before they let me get back to it.

The story and the game is magnificent but the forced Boss capture missions are a repetitive scenario that just kills the game IMO. Everything else I totally loved and Ubisoft created a natural open world wonder which is yet to be matched I reckon.

I am getting New Dawn soon which does not have these tedious boss capture missions and I fully expect I will love every minute of it!

I played Far Cry 5 for hours on end just exploring the open world as soon as I liberated an area of Peggies while totally being able to enjoy the scenery while being totally imerrsed in an open world Ubisoft created without the threat of the Peggie intrusions and this is when Ubisoft’s open world really comes to life.

After finishing New Dawn really interested to see where they take this franchise next.

I wouldn't mind seeing some settings like

South America (Amazon has plenty of animals and apparently Ubisoft had considered this setting for Far Cry 4)
Australia (deadly kangaroos would be epic)
Far Cry Jurassic (ala Primal) or Wild west would also be awesome.

Got this cheap yesterday, played the first couple of missions and says that it's still installing - 37% complete despite the disc being in the ps4 for over 6 hours. So rest mode the PS4 at about 9pm, check it again this morning at 8am - still at 37% and can't play the game. Thinking about taking it out of the machine (if it's still not installed when I get home) and breaking it over the face of the pimpley teen that sold it to me at EB yesterday.

Took it back and swapped it for the Bioshock collection. Played through all of them twice, but still **** off Ubisoftcock.

It's good. Been awhile since I played an an entire/action game. I'm getting all tingly when I'm getting shot at haha

Bit of a bump here.

Ive been hitting this in the last few weeks (FC5 not New Dawn) and this shits all over FC4 easily up there with FC 3. I got a bit lost and disinterested in 4 but there is something about this one that keeps me coming back. Having Nick the Pilot is a joy (Im not that far in yet).

For the record I quite enjoyed Primal.

I replayed this recently and I enjoyed it a lot more the second time. The first time I was a bit too lost with the plot and location early in the game and I was playing catch up after that.

I also played New Dawn recently after seeing it on sale and for how much it was, it was pretty good and enjoyable.

Haven't played the spin offs so can't comment on those.

I think for me it goes 3, then 2, then I can't split the rest. Not bad and still worth a buy, but I'm going to forget about them after a week of finishing them.

Interesting that the original plan was to have the last third of the game after the nukes had hit. I guess that's where the idea for New Dawn as a seperate game came in.

I feel this game left A LOT of potential behind. It didn't engross me like 3 & 4 did even though the story and context was of far more interest to my personal tastes.

I don't even recall it that well. I definitely finished the story but didn't do the usual collectible stuff from memory.

Yeah I've recently rebooted FC 4 and actually changed my mind, its much better than 5. Love the villain in FC 4, and there is more hunting for animals which I love.
