Really enjoyed this season, and thought the final episode was excellent. This show has always been about telling stories, so everything is always potentially on the table.

Terrific actors and a few interesting things but it’s becoming a bit of a yawn for me. Narrative dragging, too linear, not exploring a promising set up.
Tillman not a nuanced villain like Billy bob/Thewlis were. He’s just a violent bully.
Do like dot and looking forward to her winning out.

Ole Munch was the billy bob/thewlis equivalent in this, those seasons also had their 'normal' baddies too, to differing degrees.

Yep- fair comments but I just found it disappointing after a promising start. Really wanted to love it and certainly enjoyed parts of it. Glad you enjoyed it. Am looking forward to the next season.

It was great but the final episode wasn’t

Rewatch of season 4. Lots of fun characters and a great story. There's 11 episodes and not a bad one in there. Perhaps we can be over-critical at times but when you compare it some of the other shows being produced, Fargo is a standout. I had my doubts about the casting of Schwartzman but it works because the character is a schmuck. Still didn't like Chris Rock in it.

I just liked some of the origin stuff in it - Satchel obviously, Joe Bulo makes his first appearance, it was great seeing a different setting completely from the other series.

I find it really hard to rank seasons of a show that I enjoy as much as I have Fargo - I’ve loved literally every season and don’t really have a bad word to say about any of them: they all have something I could sort of sink my teeth into. Season 1 it was just Malvo, he was so captivating every time he was on the screen.
Season 2 it was the toughness of Lou and Hank for good, matched with the righteous murderousness of Milligan and his two henchmen, pitted against the Gerhardts with Peg and Ed caught up in the middle of it. It was a cacophony of violence and I loved it.
Season 3 you sort of had that first taste of a real kick-arse hard woman in Nikki Swango which I loved, the sibling rivalry, the odd couple on the run with Mr Wrench, and obviously Varga.
Season 4 I enjoyed the constant back and forth of the two gangs trying to one up each other, one through control and the other through a complete lack of it, with the Oraetta plotting weaving in and out of it.
And then this latest season where Dot was maybe the toughest character yet, and had to first win over her mother in law and then beat her monster ex husband who might be the most evil character yet aside from Malvo

It’s very hard to split them

Loved the first three Fargo seasons. Billy Bob in s1, Mike Milligan in s2 and Swango s3. Felt season 4 was a disappointment. Chris Rock miscast and out of his depth.

No issues with Aliens Barry?
Tbh been so long since I’ve seen it forgot about that. Don’t think it took anything away from main story

Old mate AI sums it up well..

    • Real-Life Inspiration: The scenes are partially inspired by the 1979 case of Minnesota deputy sheriff Val Johnson, who claimed a UFO caused a car accident, says MPR News.
    • Connection to Other Coen Films: The UFO theme recalls the 2001 Coen brothers film The Man Who Wasn't There.
The show utilizes these elements to break from a purely rational narrative,, suggesting that in the "true story" of Fargo, truth is often stranger than fiction.

I wouldn't say Chris was out of his depth , but definitely miscast, every time you looked at him another different character springs to mind. But that's the casting crews fault.
Billy Bob is simply the best. His Malvo character put the wind up me, the malevolence and the knowing of violence forth coming, the fear he instilled through his car window with Hanks Jnr, that scene is just flawless both actors.
