at the begining i liked this kid nice long kick .. but of recent he just seems un fit and slow .. but that kick to Nahas in teh swans game was brilliant ! I HOPE he can gain some consistency he will add some real depth to our side :thumbsu:

You missed the one in the first quarter where he passed to the swans.......trade for a packet of twisties. (chicken flavoured)

I hate riding off our players, especially after a good win but...

... this guys is no good.

Can occasionally deliver a 55m pearler lace out, but doesn't do it often enough to make up for his pace, defensive side, composure, height or other flaws.

I guess we are starting to get to the point where our delistings each year are now to improve our list rather than flicking the duds as Dimma has had to do in his first two years. For me Farmer is in a group of half a dozen who could have there names called and shown the door. His impact in games is negligible to say the least and as I very much doubt he has any trade value he will likely go at seasons end. I guess he was an experiment that could have worked out but it appears it hasn't.

The fact that he is at the moment in our best 22 just shows how poor and shallow our depth is...

3 more possible AFL career games I reckon...

And with all due respect that is being generous...he could'nt even make journeyman status at the tigers....says it all...

Goes hard, great kick. But he's too slow and not a good enough decision maker to remain in the backline. I wouldn't mind seeing him tried as a forward.

And that we have had one of the biggest injury lists in the AFL.

They planned for him to play forward this year but due to injuries to others he has been forced to go back.

nope not there yet still plenty of duds. i suppose one could say the standard of dud has risen but at the end of the day a dud is a dud is a dud.

oh by the way everytime you delist a dud and give someone else a chance you at least give yourself the chance of improvement.

Lot of giving here...whats happens if you delist a dud and pick up another dud...its going to be a long day...dudding improvement...

People forget quickly, very good last year hampered by injury this year good kid will be fine once he loses some size and gets a run at it again

I personally hated the Farmer / Shulz trade but even though on Sunday he could not hit a target all game he deserves another year. If they don't give it to him they'd only be repeating past mistakes like Wallace and Frawley.

He has played with injury this year and needs another year again to bed down his skills. Could play a part in the squad in the future.

Remember guys a decent side isn't just 22 guys. It's roughly 36.

Not sure - I swing back and forwards a bit (and I can't make up my mind about Farmer, either).

He shows some promise at times, but at times he makes some terrible clangers.
I don't think he'll ever be an a-grader, so if we cut him I wouldn't be upset - if we kept him, I'd be OK as well.

He needs to find one thing he does well, play a position where he can do just that, and do it.

Fat, lazy, points at others instead of doing it himself, non-competitive, poor decision maker, beautiful kick - that sums it up.

My question re. Farmer is... what is his position?

Does not look a midfielder... has failed as a lock down 'small' defender... can't see him as a crumbing, forward line pressure type guy... has not shown the tank to be a 'run all day' and spread & carry outside type... what is his spot?

For example if it came to him and Matty White well, even with White's defficiencies he at least has elite speed + has shown the ability to blanket oponents when given a total stopping role.

Puzzled...

:confused:I must have missed the very good last year:confused::confused:

I was in Australia:confused::confused:

nah you didnt, infact u created another i hate farmer thread around the time he started playing good footy and later acknowledged he had improved, so you didnt miss it.. more to the point you than waited untill he was smashed by injury this year and started another thread, farmer isnt a concern give him time get over his injury than see if he can play good footy again, if he cant delist him in a year or 2 , certaintly much bigger problems on our list than an injury ravaged farmer whose had a quiet year

absolutely 10000000% incorrect

infact

Lazy - His actually hard working despite being put in the side a few weeks earlier than he should have been due to our injuries

Non-Competitive - im not sure your being serious?

People just see blokes make some mistakes and label them duds without actually thinking it through the fact his been on our list 5 mins and has shown something before being injured means his not even in consideration to be delisted

To be he seems an average footballer with a long kick...who under pressure misses targets.

But for some reason keeps getting games over the likes of Webberley, White and Nason.

That's not to say I think much of those blokes, Hardwick keeps playing him even if he has a stinker... There must be something Hardwick sees in him - I guess he likes his Hardness at the ball?

All I know is, I think he looks very shakey everytime he has the ball...

I'm with Kyussss. I'm not quite prepared to go and put my house on him to become a permanent first 22 player, but have no problems giving him plenty of time.

Kyussss hits the nail on the head about a guy making a few mistakes under pressure, and then being labelled a dud. I've a feeling Hardwick is happy to give him plenty of time to settle in and show what he can do.

Fat, lazy, non-competitive bad decision-makers don't usually get to be captain of a premiership winning TAC Cup team.

I think many people people fail to realise what it takes for a team to become a cohesive well-drilled unit. It's not just a case of throwing 20 future brownlow medallists together and let them do their thing. It's more about finding good footballers with the right attitude and respect for team mates, who demand respect in return. Dimma is not leaving too many stones unturned in trying to find these guys. Only judging from the outside, but I think you'll find this is where Gourdis falls short of the mark, but not so Farmer.
