This guy must surely be squarely in our sights now.

Aparently he is yet to sign and wasn't seen training with the main group recently.
Without counting our chickens before they hatch, this guy would make an excellent addition to out list.

Obviously the doggies will be asking for Polak and perhaps something else.

Heres hoping he is in the purple for season 2007 :thumbsu:

I like him. Fits into our gameplan which seems to revolve around being the hardest running team in the league.

Wouldn't want to pay too much though.

Would fit Subiaco Oval to a tee however I doubt you can afford him. Salary is the problem at Bulldogs and I doubt you could offer more then they are atm

Polak will relieve some salary cap pressure as I believe he was on a similar amount to McPharlin.
Though I agree we probably couldnt offer him much more than the doggies, perhaps he just wants to come home.

I wish I could share your enthusiasm for Ray, I still reckon he is too much of a light weight and not the big tall heavy bodied midfielder they are looking for. There is no way I would give away Polak for Ray, Midfielders of Rays size are dime a dozen, they are everywhere. KPP of Polak's age and potential are rare, you certainly don't go giving them up,especially when their best is approaching. I guarantee that if Polak is given opportunities next year, he will come good, he is getting bigger and stronger. Ray is not even high up in the pecking order at the bullies as a midfielder, that is why they would have no problems trading him.

Ray would be a devastating loss for us. Never stops running and will be a gun.

He will finish top 10 in our B&F.

Absolutly agree with everything you said about Polak. I have no idea why most ppl cant see this. He is a true KPP unlike Mundy, Johnno and weakling Thornton. Those guys are running defenders who some of you have stated may play midfield. So ask yourselves this who will play CHB if Johnson plays in the middle?
Or Polak at CHF and leave Pav on a flank or start at FF with Murphy, with both those 2 leading out tell me which team would be able to defend both and Polak at CHF?
His kicking might not be the best but when playing CHF it dont have to be, if he takes 80% of his marks and we play our running game there should always be sumeone running past for the hands, then his part of the job is done.

How many midfielders do we have that are 189cm, who are as fast as him can and have the endurance that he has? Peake is the only one that is similar at our club.

Sure he doesn't match all the criteria, notably he is lightweight, but he offers more to us than Tarrant, Johnson or Solomon surely?

Did you guarentee that for this year or the year before? He has played quite a few games now and has not been able to establish himself as a starter in our line up despite us being on the lookout for a both a forward and a backman. In the meantime others have, and that should be rewarded.

If Polak is on the list next year then it is up to him to force his way into the team, not for the team to give him opportunites so he can "come good". he has had plenty of that, and it is now up to him. One of the best coaching moves this year has been rewarding players based on merit not reputation.

Same with Medhurst.

If you want him then it will take either:

- Early 1st Rounder
- Quality player and a 2rd rounder

Ray played well in September and his value would have increased. Polak couldn't get a game, and has off field issues, so his value is lower than it was 12 months ago. For those reasons, it will take more than Polak to get Ray. I'd give up Polak and Medhurst for him, but certainly wouldn't part with Polak and pick 13.

Polak to the dogs
Pick 13 (our 1st round) to the lions
Akermanis to the dogs
Ray to Freo
Brisbane's 3rd round pick (38) to Freo
McGrath to Freo
Pick 28 from bulldogs to Brisbane.

In- Ray, McGrath, pick 38.
Out- Polak and pick 13.

"Wasn't seen training with the main group recently".....and when did the bulldogs train recently?

Polak and 2nd rounder I'd say.

Bulldogs have thousands of players of his ilk, Freo doesn't.

I'd love to get Ray - look past size etc, Farren is class and would be a welcome addition.

I doubt we will get him, depends more on Ray's relationship with the Bullies than there requirement for Polly.

And they desperately need Key Position Players who are ready to play now. We can pick up midfielders a lot more easily than they can find good talls.

It's surprising that Ray hasn't re-signed yet. Hopefully Schwab/CC/Icke/Shaw have something in the pipeline. With the dogs committed to Akermanis and McDoostuffall they are already going to be busy this week.

I'd be happy with Ray + 3rd round for Polak + 2nd round.

Would be good Cheetah but we'd most likely have to add a pick to the deal...

Straight swap Polak (if he can't be convinced to stay) for Ray.

Win/win for both clubs.

Add a second rounder and it might be even.

But he's staying so no.
