Under the father/son draft rule, I was wondering, if a club nominates him as a son before the draft to be picked up with the third round pick, can the son say no, I'd rather just go in the draft and possibly be picked up by someone else?

ie, can the son say, no thanks?

The club must have the players agreement beforehand.
Tim Clarke knocked back the Cats and the Hawks grabbed him

tim clarke

geelong wasn't interested in drafting tim clarke under the father son rule thats how the dawks got him they didnt want him at the cats , but a player can nominate 4 the draft rather than go to his father's club if thats what he wants to do

each club can only have one player under 18. Geelong already had one. Tim Clarke had the option to sit out one year and play for the cats but chose hawthorn

Not correct.

They did offer to pick him up under the father/son option but he knocked them back
