Which is your favourite extinct animal, or the one that interests you the most?

Mine would be the Passenger Pigeon, a North American bird that was once among the most common on earth. In the 1700s & 1800s, there were great flocks of millions that would blacken the sky, but hunting drove the birds' numbers down and they were very rare by the early 1890s, with the last known Passenger Pigeon dying at Cincinatti Zoo in 1914, a sad end for what was once a very successful species.

Modern extinct animal?

Dodo vs Tasmanian Tiger

I'd lean towards the Dodo, I find it's story particularly sad.

Really be great is genetic engineering could bring these animals back.

I'm going with Panda. Yeah, I know they're still alive but I want to get in early while it's still cool, you know, before everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

Wish they'd hurry up and extinctify though - they're doomed so why not just stop wasting money on 'em and let em die?

I've been a fan of our megafauna, giant wombats & 2m tall kangaroos.

Would love to have a pet Tasmanian Tiger though. Sad we managed to wipe them out so completely & quickly.

Don't really have a favourite but this would have to be the most awesome.

Amphicoelias fragillimus.

If it really did exist it would of been amazing to see an animal that massive. Estimated to have been around 40-60m long.

I've always loved the furry beaver. Flourished in the 70's, but numbers declined massively due to widespread deforestation. Last sighted circa 1995.

Ill go ahead and cheat and say the Giganotosaurus, these monsters were apparently bigger than a Rex and even scarier hunted in packs, imagine 6 creatures of that size roaming around together and hunting, would be an awesome sight.

Also the Stegosaurus because that is one cool looking dinosaur.

Sabre-tooth tiger.

still not conclusive proof its extinct. rumoured sightings abound.

however if it is extinct I would say the tiger too.
