Seeing as we have two threads questioning the ability or inclusion of two of our youngest and most well know Blues, I thought it might be interesting to see who everyone rates as their favourite five Blues.

As I lie awake at 4am recently, the only thing that helps me drift off again is thinking of Cripps to Fisher to Curnow and goal.

So here’s my top five, let me know yours for a bit of fun:

1. Cripps. Absolute gun and I love his laid-back country lad attitude.

2. Doc. The way he has turned his injury into a positive by being an active sideline “coach extension” is impressive and says that this guy will captain our great club to 17. His whole story of overcoming tragedy just oozes class and decency and I’m glad we have such a great person and player at our club leading the way.

3. Kruezer. Heart, soul, passion for the Navy Blue. Such an unlucky guy with injuries, he is pivotal to our success. I love that he’s like a big roving mid.

4. Simpson, still, after all this time. Let’s hope he goes around again and again while he’s still playing like he did on the weekend!

5. Hard to pick between Charlie and Fish but I’ve gone with Fish because I think he has silky skills and I love his run and carry, vision and confidence.

The signs are good, I haven’t felt so excited or pleased about our team since probably the 90s. Good bunch of young ones with an exceptional coach (Judd called him the most ambitious he’s ever met).

Go Blues.

Go Blues.
I've got effectively the same list. Cripps, Doc, MK8, old man Simpson & Charlie.

The next crop of 5 are probably Fish, Samo, Marchy, Plow & MK7.

Realistically it's fairly tight between 5 & 10.

Love all of Cripps, Doc, Marchy, Plow, Charlie, Byrne, Pickett, SPS, Fish, Williamson, Kennedy, Cuningham from our young brigade.

I know thats not what you're asking (good thread btw) but I am excited that we have so many likeable players to follow.

Supporters hope for success but ultimately we watch for enjoyment - at least if we don't win a premiership with this group, the better part of the next decade is going to be exciting for us.

I just feel like it’s so hard for the first time in a long time, to single out players because our list is so promising :)

Difficult with so many kids on the list

No particular order

Simpson - Doubt there are many currently on our list that has gotten the best out of themselves as a player
Cripps - Will continue to build and by the time his career is over, will be considered a great of the club
Doc - A class act on and off the field
Ed - See Simpson notes
Charlie - Best (potential )x-factor since Kouta

Special mention to Fisher - Punches above his weight

Too hard to pick. Love the kids but I'll leave them aside for this.

Kade Simpson - How can any Carlton supporter NOT love this bloke?
Ed Curnow - Absolute soldier, survived numerous culls. Nothing but pure guts and determination.
Sam Docherty - Someone that looks so outspoken and so passionate. Absolute modern club great this guy is going to be.
Matthew Kreuzer - Persistent. Another one of those players that keeps getting up to impress those around him, despite how much he suffers.
Patrick Cripps - So incredibly exciting to watch. So much potential. Already a star. Has potential to become so much more.

My 5 ...

Samo I just love watching him with ball in hand effortlessly evading all who come at him. Great skills, tackles ... I can see that with an uninterrupted pre-season or two he will become the player opposition coaches worry about the most.

Charlie More of last week please and he will be in everyone’s top 5. Good mark, good kick, often moves the ball on quickly when higher up the ground (watch out when the midfield and the rest of the forward line improves and leaves Charlie one out more).

Simmo Puts his body on the line week in and week out and wins the ball, runs it and then kicks it long. Agree with Arr0w ... gets the most out of himself.

Cripps The workhorse. Contested possessions, still going to the last minute.

Williamson Good kick, runs, competitor.

Hard to keep it to 5, special mentions to Kreuzer, Murphy, Ed Curnow, Wright, Fisher, Weitering, Jack, Marchbank, Pickett (blistering speed).

Docherty plays the loose defender role well, but IMO struggles when he actually has to defend (and no way should he go to midfield).

Mine is going to be strange compared to everyone else’s (accept 1)

1. Simmo - don’t need to justify this one
2. Marchbank - I don’t know, I just really enjoy watching him play, I honestly feel the media and us get so excited over Charlie, Cripps & Fisher, that we miss how awesome this guy will be.
3. Ed - he is a bit like Simmo, you know what your going to get & he gives his all. He is also our forgotten midfielder, he is picked every week when fit, but when the media discusses our midfielders he is missed (they even did it on the Carlton Show this week when discussing who could help Cripps without Kennedy)
4. Doc - should be made captain, I know won’t be popular for that, but he talks well and represents the jumper well.
5. Plowman - I feel for the kid, he is our defensive whipping boy to a degree, yet he gets the little guys and does tries his heart out. A bit like Marchbank, the other kids overshine him.

4/5 my play in the back half, I don’t know why this has happened, feel like subbing out Ed for Jones just to complete the set!

Honrable mention for ASOS, who I think last year was so thrilled to play for the club, that he played above himself (that game on Franklin), I don’t think he will get in the team much now, but gee he really grabbed it and played for the jumper it really warmed my heart, now I’m getting emotional....

The FISH is the one player that I notice out of our team each game I watch.
I see all the others but there is something about FISH that stands out.
Clean pick up, effort both defensive and attacking, his vision to find a player in a better position even his energy.

1. Doc - character means a lot to me and I get the impression he has it in spades. Love the effort he brings and the leadership.

2. Cripps - beast. Represents a turning point in our club (although picked during the old regime) and our future.

3. Simmo - closing in on 300 games and should be regarded as an all-time great.

4. Williamson - love the way he goes about his footy and can't wait to see how far he goes.

5. Fisher - similar to Simmo in that he is a slightly built guy and super competitive, and love his skills.
