1993 Jakovich 6 goals vs West Coast kisses his brother on the cheek after nailing a ripper from outside 50.

1993 vs richmond. Lovell and Jako kick 8 each

I think it was round 1 vs Geelong in 1994. I believe you smashed them. I think Jako kicked 4.10.

1994 finals vs Carlton and bulldogs

1995 vs brisbane at the gabba Shaun smith's mark of the year

1996 merger game vs hawks round 22

1997 round 22 beating freo to end their finals hopes after you finished bottom.

1998 beating West Coast in Perth after two bad losses in a row. It was a good upset.

2000 vs pies farmer kicked 9 and the finals vs Carlton and North.

2002 final vs Adelaide. A see sawing beauty.

2004 smashing the Saints during the regular season and the final vs the Dons.

2005 end of year game vs dogs white kicked the winner.

2006 elim final vs the saints

2008 come back from 50 down to sink freo.

2017 and 18 vs West Coast in Perth. Two great wins.

2021 regular season game vs dogs and cats and all the finals.

Name some good Melbourne games.

May have beaten Geelong in 1993 I think too another good one.

2015 vs Geelong, coming of age game under Roos, four years on from 186. It was a game where you sit back and go, i can see what Roos is building. Gawn's breakout game.

2016 vs Hawthorn, knocked off top of the ladder hawks, again similar reasons as above.

2021 vs Brisbane, hit the road after COVID breakout in Melbourne, trailed Lions by 20 odd points at halftime, no panic, stayed the course and in the second half played the best mix of defensive footy with attacking flair i've seen. Woke up the next day and thought geez we are good enough to win the flag.

2000 QF vs the blues. (the end to our season was such a ride, think we went 11-1 into the GF)

1998 finals vs crows and saints, my first vivid memories of winning finals and being good after 3-4 years in the wilderness

2002 semi vs crows, some of the best i've seen us play, Trapper a level above.

2002 beating the unbeatable Lions at the GABBA, prime neita kicked 9.

Some good games in there. I backed you's in that 2016 game vs the hawks. You could see for a while you were playing well, especially at the G.

Good mention against Brisbane. I remember that game well. Thinking yep you guys are the favourites for sure. I think it may have been the week before where you played the dogs. I backed them that week for the flag and regretted it straight away. They couldn't play contested footy and you guys destroyed them. Wpuldnt beat you in a final.

Great finals in 98 I don't know how I left them out. And that win against Brisbane was huge. I think you guys came back from 37 points down. I think Ward got some good goals in that game from outside 50 perhaps.

A few that come to mind of games I've attended:

2006-Elimination Final against St. Kilda

2008-Comeback game against Fremantle, Brisbane game where we were 11 points down over 30 minutes into the last quarter

2011-Beating Adelaide by 100 points (or so)

2023-Queen's Birthday in Collingwood's premiership year, ran over the top of them after a slow start

At SCG 2006. Umpires did their best to hand sydney the win. It was a good game.

Going big again as a modern fan but observer of many replays, i won't mention finals. I'm going to have to hard cut some 90s games

1984 Round 13 Hawthorn V Melbourne @ Princes Park (lowly dees beating the hawks in their prime)
1986 Round 1 Richmond V Melbourne @ MCG (Good high scoring game)
1986 Round 18 Collingwood V Melbourne @ Vic Park (Upset in Flowers 250th against the pies)
1987 Panasonic Cup Grand Final Essendon V Melbourne @ Waverley Park (Scrappy but preseason cup win)
1987 Round 22 Footscray V Melbourne @ Western Oval (Obviously. The crowd reacting to the other game on radio is something we probably won't ever see again)

1990 Round 20 West Coast V Melbourne @ Subiaco Oval (Good hard fought win in the west)
1991 Round 2 Fitzroy V Melbourne @ Princes Park (Felt sorry for them in retrospect but don't mind watching a good thrashing)
1991 Round 18 St Kilda V Melbourne @ Morrabin (Good old suburban footy with a close finish, Stynes running riot)
1992 Round 20 Collingwood V Melbourne @ Vic Park (Good game at Vic park with Jakovic towling up Pert)
1993 Preseason Game Collingwood V Melbourne @ Princes Park (Actually a good game this one)
1993 Round 11 Melbourne V Collingwood @ MCG (Just that opening quarter man, so good)

1998 Round 22 Melbourne V Richmond @MCG
1999 Round 4 Melbourne V Hawthorn @MCG (Very entertaining close game)

2000 Round 14 Melbourne V Collingwood @MCG (I like this season, but can't go past that Farmer second half)
2001 Round 5 Melbourne V Sydney @MCG (Just a good game)
2002 Round 14 Melbourne V Brisbane Gabba (Gabba home game, but beat the lions there in their prime)
2003 Round 1 Melbourne V Hawthorn @MCG
2004 Round 11 Fremantle V Melbourne @Subiaco
2005 Rounds 20,21 and 22 (Fun run home of games starting with a big win in geelong, a close finish with the dogs and then just getting the job done against the bombers)

2007 Round 11 Melbourne V Collingwood @MCG
2008 Round 7 Melbourne V Fremantle @MCG (That come back)

I really trimmed this list to not include a buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunch more

Seriously good memories from people in here. Nothing new on my list.

Anzac Eve 2021 first time in my life I genuinely thought we would win a flag.

Prime Ox in 1994, against Lions, Swans (we kicked 27.5), and the finals against Blues and Dogs.

Melky miracle against Lions.

Kozzie miracle against Blues.

Merger game.

Wiz on Queens Birthday.

Gawn at Geelong x2.

2021 prelim and granny.

2024 win against Essendon just because I dislike them and it was cool seeing Riv dominate them.

2000 final against North smashed them.

Crows final in 2022 unreal game of footy.

2018 Cats final.

2018 Eagles win.

2002 against Lions when Ward smashed them.

186 and 148. Gotta stay humble.

1990 vs Essendon Round 3 Easter Monday and Round 16 Windy Hill. We very rarely beat them during most of Sheedy's 27 year reign but we did it twice in 1990.

1990 round 7 v WCE Friday Night Footy, top of the table clash

1991 round 5 and 6 vs North and Pies, Darren Cuthbertson going berserk in back to back weeks kicking 7 each game

1991 Round 15 v Swans in Sydney, Bennett and Jakovich combined for 15 goals in one of their rare games together

1989 round 16 pipped the Cats by 4 points at Waverley in a highish scoring game after only kicking 2 goals against them 4 rounds earlier in the slop at the MCG

1989 round 11 Queen's Birthday v Hawks at Princes Park another game in absolute slop, we beat them in a low scoring affair after the humiliation of the 88 GF.

1991 round 20 v North. Allen Jakovich.

Props to 1992 at Vic Park mentioned above, one of my favourite games i attended live. Jakovich benched early after Pert was towelling him up and the Collingwood ferals giving it to him. Comes back on and kicks 7, Schwarz coming of age a little too. Cost the Pies top spot and a potential flag.

1993 round 10 and 11 (or 11 and 12?) Jakovich kicking 8 & 9 goals in back to back weeks vs Pies and Bombers.

2005 round 1 v Bombers, Troy Broadbridge tribute game.

2004 round 18 v Hawks, the first time in 17 years I'd seen the Demons top the ladder that late into the season. We proceeded to shit the bed in spectacular fashion in the subsequent weeks.

2017 round 12 v Pies Queens Birthday, Jack Watts redemption game.

Special mention for 1989 State of Origin, I've never been a part of such a large one sided crowd. 90k+ all cheering on the Big V, Ablett, Dunstall, Lockett, Brereton, Lyon all in the same forward line. We smashed them but will never forget the crowd.

1995 Origin as well only for EJs emotional lap around the ground which still send shivers up my spine and tears in my eyes. Danihers pregame lap last year at Kings Birthday was reminiscent.

I was a name a game enthusiast back in the day. Shame they went out of business and the AFL just sits on the archive

Also come here to say that Saints game last year with Nas winning the game.

Absolutely tears. Ended Goodwin and had so many highlights. Clarry shanking the potential game winner and not even scoring, Nas taking a hanger on Fritsch as the +1, the 666, Viney getting lost in the middle of the ground as Nas runs forward and wins the game.

Dees poetry.

Good games. I think Ox kicked 9 against Sydney in that win in 94.

I think some games are just inherently funny and you have to appreciate them for what they are. I find it difficult to get angry at that St. Kilda game for that reason, because everything about those last few minutes was just so completely and utterly ridiculous. Some losses are traumatising and I will never be able to watch them again, but that St. Kilda game was just perfectly scripted by the most hackneyed idiots in existence and I keep going back to watch it for exactly that reason. Absolutely sublime.

Another example was our win over GC in 2019. Losing by a goal with 20 seconds left, then Marty Hore scores the only goal of his entire AFL career. Go back the middle, get the ball to full forward, where Tom McDonald drops a mark, tries to kick it, then hits the post from two metres out, we win the game. It shouldn't matter whether you're a GC or MFC supporter, that shit is just so stupid that the only correct response is to laugh.

don’t forget about the kick that mcdonald dropped was also a shanked shot on goal by harmes lol

I enjoyed the Richmond game from round 1 in 1999.

Also that year you guys were one of only 4 teams to beat essendon during the home and away season. That game would have been alright.

1999 Round 1 was the very last game i nabbed before name a game shut down. Glad i did because no one seems to have put it up anywhere. Stynes worked commentary in that game and goes down to ground level to get cheered off after the match is over

That 1999 game vs Essendon is peak 90s footy

Round 2, 1998 vs North Melbourne. We opened a big first half lead, nearly lost, then steadied to win. That was the day I really got back into footy after a couple of years out of the loop due to teenage misery.

I'd forgotten Clarry's shank, absolutely beautiful stuff.

Just watched the highlights and the Saints pull some wild goals out of their ass

Also a really dumb McVee 50 in there. Just incredible scenes.
