70's & 80's Punk/Hardcore, Rock and Noise. Some reasonable stuff in the 90's but not a whole lot.

I think the 70's offered more innovation than the decades that have come after. The 70's was essentially the birth of metal and punk, disco (hehe) and some great pop... you also had a flow on of influences from the 60's. The clincher is the soundtracks scored for 70's pr0n. :D

The 60's and 70's spawned the most creative and diverse genres of music but I love the 70's for its hard rock, blues, etc. Love My Aerosmith, Stones, Queen, Police, Stooges, Wings, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Floyd, Heartbreakers, et.al.....

Parts of the 90's were memorable, the late 90's were pathetic and not all impressed with the current decade thus far.

80's were average most people who grew up with them probably have a soft spot for them.

90's up to bout 97 - Oasis, soundgarden, guns and roses, stone temple pilots

the 80's had the best guitarists

the 60's and 70's are filled with maybe the best songwriters.

70's! the best music era for mankind
I love the rock bands in the 70's

I don't have a favourite era particularly, I like a bit of everything.

Pre 70s-80s: The Beatles-enough said.
Early 80s: The Blues Brothers-The best blues artists of all time.
Late 80s-mid 90s: No-one I can think of.
Late 90s onwards: Robbie Williams-best vocal artist in the world right now.

Easily the Seventies.
The biggest array of diversity and different sounds.
So many different styles, beginning with the ' nonsense hippy trippy ' sound ( e g Melanie Safka, The New Seekers ) heavy Metal ( Led Zeppelin, T Rex ),' Storybook ' artistes ( Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull ) , Bubblegum ( The Sweet, Mud ) Country & Western ( Glen Campbell, John Denver ) the big ballad writers ( Todd Rundgren, Eric Carmen ) disco ( Donna Summer, Tina Charles ) to punk ( Sex Pistols, XTC ) and finally New Romantics ( Police, Gary Numan )

The 50s and 60s were crap, save for a few artists ( The Shadows, Adam Faith and the odd girl singer ) repetitive three chord garbage with cissy, nondescript lyrics until the drug addled potheads and acid trippers took over.
The 80s were decent for the most part but had too many flat periods. The eighties can be defined by years. They were either good music years ( 1980, 84, 85, 88 ) or shockers ( 1981, 82, 87 )

the Nineties? Yawn. Faggy boy bands like Boyz to Men and Savage Garden.
And that ghetto noise that all sounds the same. And stupid, stupid lyrics. E g Everybody Hurts - REM, You Oughta Know - Alanis Morrissette, Bitch - Meredith Brooks

And as for this decade. Double yawn. Some talentless, tattooed yob called Robbie Williams. Enough said.

I was born in '85, so I am into a lot of 1990's music. There is bugger all from 2000 that excites me. I have a genuine soft spot for 80's music, and I love the rock music that comes from that decade. Theres some decent 70's music that I like, pre-1970 is too old for me.

So my favourite music era would have to be early 80's to late 90's.

Anyone who says new music sucks isn't looking in the right places.

I'm actually rather proud of the music that's being produced by my generation, there is a lot of really amazing stuff out there.. you just have switch off your TV and look for it.. Look at all the amazing stuff that's come out in the last 5 years....

All the White Stripes albums, Mars Volta, Radiohead, Flaming Lips, The Stands, Ben Folds, Queens of the Stone Age, System of a down, Dream Theatre, Black Keys, The Strokes, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Hellacopters, The Hives, Sigur Ros, Secret Machines, Franz Ferdinand, Libertines, Nine Inch Nails, Polyphonic Spree, U2's new album, The Datsuns, Devandra Banhart, The Mess Hall, Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, John Butler Trio, RHCP..

And thats just the stuff that I own that I can think of!

Love the rock bands of the late 70s, 80s and early 90s.
Mid- late 90s was dominated by ******** commercialised music and this decade has been absolutely shocking as it lacks genuine rock bands that will dominate the arena for the next 10 years.

90's - West Coast Gangsta Rap, Grunge

Wins hands down for me.

Early 90's for me too, the good music probably stopped at around 1996.

But 60, 70 and 80's had their fair share of good tunes.

The 70s and early 80s. 80% of my CD collection probably falls somewhere between 1975 and 1983.

I think it was the most diverse time, the most innovative time, and possibly more genres of popular music were created in and immediately around those 10 years than ever before or since.

I also feel that recordings never sounded better than they did then. There was so much crafting and polishing that went on. Songwriting was respected, musicianship was respected, live performance mattered, and those who were the best at it got noticed. Yeah, there was fluff in those days too, put people saw through it.

No Pro Tools, no drum machines, no auto-tuned vocals, no MTV, no jamster ringtones, no "So Fresh", no Coke Live, no (Nationality) Idol.

I think there's hope though....people do seem to be getting bored with that stuff.

90s.

Gangstarr, Wu tang, Nas, Jay Z, Big L , Biggie, Snoop, Dre etc all in their prime.

Your favourite era is really dictated by what type of music you like.
If like me you are a rock fan then obviously the 70s. 80s and early 90s were the best
But for rap and rnb fans it is obviously the 90s and to a lesser extent now.

voted 70's even though that time was responsible for some of the crappest music since the 00's.

I think the decades should go 1965 - 1975. and 1975 - 1985 etc.

I'm not even gonna try and mention the good and the bad.

Just think The Band and The Sex Pistols as opposed the Commadores and Bay city Rollers :D
