My favourite all time player is tony modra. mcleod an extremely close second. I have no23 on my number plate (crows number plates) as 6 was taken.

its just a shame that since these two retired, hacks have taken on the jumper. in particularly number 6 - all hacks and nancy boys. wouldn't want any of these numbers on my back these days

these days - walker, danger, porps - in that order

Tex Walker - 60m goal at the half time siren to put us in front...

all time - Darren Jarman "the candy man"

:p

Seriously you gave up on Porps cause of his injuries..? Where the fk is the faith mate? TBH you should be ashamed of yourself you should stick with your player especially knowing it's Porps and you will reap the benefits... lost about 10% respect for you. Porps is a beast and dont forget it
Sorry bosh but what talent do u see Pets having? IMO all I have seen him having is going hard..
You crack me up brah!

Porps is still one of my favourites, and if you actually read what I wrote, you'd see that I didn't say I gave up on Porps or Pets! I just said it was a shame for a part of their respective careers, they were injuried... Plain and simple! Don't put words in my mouth brah! :D

Pets boast some kind of talent in my opinion... It's that we only see it in sporadic spurts only. He's attack on the ball, pace and untapped potential to become a game breaker was the reason why he was one of my favourites. Sadly, we haven't seen it consistently as of yet...

In conclusion... Owner motherf**cker! How dare you say you lost respect for me and shiz!

No 9's all the way. Sloane is an absolute champion and is still very early days :)
All time would have to be Tyson Edwards. At his peak he was but far the most consistent hard at it player. Skills (his weighted pin piont kicking) was truly awesome and something I hope his three sons have inherited.

Where's Paladin and Freddy Bassett??

Come on boys you know you want to!!!

Give ya's a hint...his bro could actually play!!;)

Let's hear who you would put on your back if you had to pick and why.. Its easy to pick 3 of your fav players but who is your TRUE FAV PLAYER?

Wrighty. Ever since his first game i took a liking to him. Just the way he went about it with class and poise, i thought this kid is going to be a good hard working player. And he's proving me right.

He's my #1, but of course i love others too, such as Tex, Mackay, Dangerm Jaenschy, Jenkins, Talia, Sloane, Martin.
And then there's the 2 projects i really want to see succeed. I really want Tambling to make an impact, and i'd love to see Dowdell play 100 games.

The big Texas.

Has an huge amount of Get Around Me about him. Lovesto celebrate and tell the opposition how good he is. Comes through in the biggest games and get the crowd going.

Second is Bernard. For similar reasons to above plus he is a fein in the night life.

A few people are naming 2+ players... Lets say you have a new guernsey and have to get a number on the back.. Who would you get?
Forget the number, it'd be a big mudflap I would get on the back.. ;)

Followed him since the NSW Scholarship days like a lot of others and love what he's developing into.. Has that something about him in so many ways, the type of player you watch football for.. Plays with passion, gets everyone pumped.. Legend..

If not him, it would be Danger, Sloane, Thommo, Wright..
Crouch will no doubt be up there very soon..

Great thread. Has really got me thinking of how many players we have that not only play an exciting-to-watch brand of football but that also come across a top blokes.
It's impossible not to start getting out of your seat when Danger has an inch of space and the ball in his hand or when Tex is near the pill. Love Rory's toughness (and his unbelievable tank - runs all day). Porps class. Mackay's dash and delivery. Smith in general. Love Matty Wright too. Exciting times.
But I think my favourite is the much-maligned Pets. Maybe that's because he has a few detractors on this board and I feel I have to back him in even more. Yes - I know he's prone to a few clangers (when he tries to do too much) but he's not a lone soldier there. But his good is pretty bloody awesome. Fearless tackling machine and he does have really good vision, some excellent (and underrated) delivery inside 50 and some inspiring chase-down tackling that must lift the entire team. Moments that stand out from 2012 include crashing packs against the Cats, that game-changing smother against Freo and one absolutely ridonkulus handball assist (blindsided, under pressure, over his head out from a pack to find a loose target for a goal - why can't I remember who this was against?).

D-Mac.

When I played footy, I was the small skinny wingman/half back flanker. When D-Mac first came into the team, he was (and still is) much skinnier than everyone else on the ground, yet he could still do plenty of damage with his silky footskills. Also goes about it with little fuss and is a loyal clubman. Wright and Smith would probably be my #2 and #3. In the past it was probably Roo and for a short time Ronnie Burns and Carey . Crouch will probably be up there as well in the next couple years.

Matty Wright. His games against Fremantle were gold :D He's also a sexy looking bloke as well :thumbsu:

Edit: Finally have a bit of time to explain why hes a favourite. Personally I think his story is a really good one. A young footballer who never gave up on playing at the highest level. Callinan is also another who has grown on me as well but Wright gets the nod over him. I love him for being the work horse that he is, and the fact he is also underrated by many (maybe except for Fremantle ;)). Will be getting the #11 on my back soon (although I really wanted him to make a name for himself at #47)

I'm normally a pacifist, but whoever gives Kurt his next and career ending concussion from any club will become an all time cult figure :hearts:

Back in the late 90's I bought one of Roo's old guernseys; he's my all time favourite.

Nowadays, it's a toss up between D-Mac and Sloane. If I had to pick only one, I'd choose Sloane - he's so tough at the ball, and never, ever gives up. He beats the Energizer Bunny hands down.

Lots of Wright love in here.
It's good that people are starting to notice him. I remember going to his 4th game (V Gold Coast), and when they do the player intros on the big screen, his name came up and i let out a massive cheer. The entire rest of my bay was silent as if letting out a collective "Who?"

Then he proceeded to gun it up. As he does.

My personal fave apart from the usual suspects (danger, waker, sloane) is Brodie Smith. So much upside and has the poise and balance when the ball is in the vicinity. Also his kicking is nearly at the elite level. Gotta love seeing him let loose with the ball around the 50m arc.

Porps.

3rd Quarter, Round 7 2008 vs North Melbourne sealed that deal, and sealed the 40 on my (previously bare) back.

If I buy a clash guernsey, it will have a 9 on it. Sloaney is the heir apparent to be my man crush.
