Toast Feel the Byrne

Darcy deserves a toast. He was pretty much the one and only positive from a bleak day.

He epitomises most things you expect from a modern day defender. He's good one-one-one, tackles and runs hard (his holding the ball tackle against Stevie J. was a highlight), and is attack minded. Goals in consecutive weeks is a great return from any defender let alone a two-gamer.

You don't expect to a two game player to lead by example but that's exactly what he did yesterday.

Not unlike a young Bob Murphy so far.

DBJ is physically a bit bigger but performance is similar. Both looked comfortable from the get go.

Bryne-Jones or Byrne-Jones? :)

Probably the only positive yesterday. Some great defensive efforts and looks composed with ball in hand. If he can put a solid month together he should be able to consolidate his spot in the best 22.

I cannot help but think that Dan Houston is having a second year like Darcy had last year. DBJ burst onto the scene in 2016 but didn't quite live up to his debut year but has had a very good 2018. Hopefully Dan Houston can do the same.

Apologies to Elton John but, I guess that is why they call it the second year blues.
