I don't know where to post this but I need answers.

My next door neighbour's landlord decided to replace the dividing fence between our houses without our consent or approval. The fence was fine but his excuse was "it's my property I do what I want" and basically told us to GAGF. Conducting fencing works without approval from affected parties is a breach in itself, but in the process, he has damaged my front gate and now it's lopsided and won't close! He ripped concrete out and damaged the gate's post.

We told him to fix it as it was due to his poor workmanship and due negligence (as he did it himself instead of hiring a contractor) but he furiously demanded us to fix it our self as it was somehow our fault! He said it was already broken but before he started construction it was fine (about a week ago).

We rang legal services and we seem pretty in the clear for him having to tear down that fence because it was no approved by the council or by us (as an affected party). Plus the fence is horrendous and is baby-shit green colour which does not match our house scheme. But what about the gate?

Is this idiot liable for fixing my gate?!

*Mods, if this is not in the right board, could you please redirect? Thank You.

1. If he has erected a fence without your consent then that in itself is a breach of the law.
2. If he has damaged your property whilst removing or erecting the fence then is liable to fix it. His excuse that it was in poor condition is not an excuse that will fly.

Guy sounds like a dick ,try the legal threats if it doesnt work
