fergus will be gone at the end of this year. he is my hero, but i cant see him putting pen to paper and resigning. i dno how he is handling everything, but his dad would be in his ear about coming back to st kilda, if not victoria, but i think he will be gone at the end of this year. its a shame coz he is a huge talent, but yes.

anyway if he does leave which would obviously disappoint a lot of us, what do you reckon we should be seeking in return...first round draft pick (where he came from) a second round draft pick, or another lowly south austalian player ie fisher from st kilda.

Obviously you have been talking to the hierarchy at the Crows to know this exclusive info about Fergus. What else did they have to say?

yeh well i did work experience with him and he didnt seem to keen about playing adelaide his response was 'mm yeh its alright'.

but think about it...his dad basically runs st kilda, he is the type of player who would shaft adelaide because hes a prick (which is why i like him haha) but if we want him to stay at adelaide something needs to click soon.

Ever heard of patience mate? He was drafted in 2003, it is 2005. This is his second year. The kid needs a chance. He will get it when he develops. His tall 196cm, needs weight and will have plenty of opportunities. Big kids take longer.

it is not about him developing as a footballer, it is about him happy with his club and wanting to go home.

well it is common knowledge his dad is CEO of stkilda, jim watts. but i did work experience with him, and although his form is solid with the eagles, i dont think he is enjoying it here. well anyway i guess its all just hype that everyone is putting forward, he better not leave. the eagles have to put him in the foward line, he is no use in defence, well he is actually quite a good defender but he will be a much better forward. stick him at centre half forward and let him develop there. the first time the eagles put him in the forward line for the year he gets 2.4 in 3 quaters, and although poor return shows that he is will give us a clear path to goal.

when did you do work experience with him and what did he specifically say to outline his intentions not to re-sign ?

march this year, i was working for the sanfl for a week and i had to do an auskick clinic and he and rowan andrews were there, and i asked him if he was enjoying it at AFC and he said 'mmm...yeah i guess', and then i started talking about his future and he said 'im unsure of my future, i havent thought about it, and im not sposed to say anything about these kinds of things because the club wont let me until its decided but im not sure were im heading'.

Personally I think it would be a bit remiss of him to leak that sort of information to an outsider, and I'd bet he would have wanted to backpedal like mad after mentioning it to you if he was telling the truth.

Cue Stiffy_18, I'm sure he's got more info on this situation ;)

you can guarantee he'll tell you he has, no matter how reliable it is. In general i find most 20yrs olds have a great insider knowledge on the club, so it should be reliable. yep

ferguswatts however, can show where he got his information so i believe him, although i would doubt the ferg will leave, he may not like it here, but its almost unheard of for a guy to leave after two yrs. If he does its an indictment of the club.

You do work experience when youre 42 years old? Not being rude or anything... :)

all i can hope is that the club does eveyrthing in its power to keep him at the club, and also everything its power to make it difficult for clubs inparticular st kilda to get a sniff of him. he is a HUGE piece of our future. the whole team could be built around him and hentschel.

if we keep ferg we have 2 gun forwards in hent and ferg, then a jericho and other small crumbers in the forward line.

in the midfield we will have chris knights (dont underestimate him, only reason he wasnt a top 15 or 20 draft pick was coz he was injured all last season..he is carving up in sanfl ressies...albeit ressies), van berlo, hopefully bryce gibbs, johncock, thompson, reilly, mattner, skipworth if he improves, and a few others

in the ruck we will obviously have meesen, hudson and maric (maric could be huge or could be a dud, but if he delivers on his promise he could well be the best thing ever)

and then in defence we have mcgregor, gibson and rutten.

not one of those players is a bad aquisition to sy the least.

on top of that we will get our natural draft picks who will no doubt add to this growing list of very talented yuongsters.

year 11 hey - that would explain the idiocy of everything you have written in your 30odd shyte posts! your contribution to the port board today has been an embarrassment to your supporters. go back to pre-school and learn some respect and dignity in winning.

well the fact that you had to edit your post proves that you are incompetent and have nothing to say so head back to the port board and say someting that means something, altho in these times with 1 win on the board, u do get jealous of the crows with...i think....4 wins...yes...something a lot greater than port.

I've said it before and I was shot down somewhat for it, but I dont think Watts will make it at the AFC, and might not make it at AFL level at all. He hasnt shown much at all IMO, not even at SANFL level. I think we should be looking to use him to get one of the many quality SA lads currently on other clubs lists. He has enough potential and has the size to get the interest of the Victorian clubs and would draw a pretty good trade for us now. If we leave it beyond the trade period at the end of this season though, I think his trade value will diminish, as he will be found out as just another good/average player.

Hmmm not so sure that hearing from Ferg at a coaching clinic is all that believable.

Were that the truth however how attractive do you think Fergus would appear to St Kilda anyway? They have an absolute abundance of KPP's and would in no way be able to fit him into their side (Who do they drop, Riewoldt? Macguire?)

If Ferg wanted to leave then we have to push for either or of a 20-21 year old future South Aussie gun and a 3rd rounder or a mid to late 1st rounder to at least compensate for what we spent on him in the first place. Your best bet would be the Doggies.

That said I'm still not sure how reliable you are oh 42 year old work experiencer/ year 11 student who has a 1963 fetish.
