Surprised at his treatment of Beckham. Yes he is a pretentious bitch but he was always the model professional. Poor form to slag off one of his former prodigy's relationship with his wife. Let's not forget that United went into decline for a couple of years after Becks left. If anything I was expecting that ole' whiskey nose would have regretted selling Becks.

I think we sold him at the right time.

I think we sold him at the right time.

He had 3 excellent seasons at Real and this concurred with the same period that you lot won nothing (03/04, 04/05 and 05/06). Then again if you didn't sell him you may never have got Ronaldo. The only thing for sure is selling him set the team back for a couple of seasons.

From what I read he was having a crack at Beckham's thirst for fame and his move to the MLS more than anything. I think he didn't like the change in Beckham as he got older.

For those getting all worked up, I think that's the point of his book.

What is particularly strange about the irreconcilability of what he said then and now is that Gerrard enhanced his reputation AFTER Ferguson made his original comments extolling Gerrard's virtues - his inspirational 2004/2005 season in which he led us to Champions League glory against all odds, his clutch goals in the 2006 FA Cup Final, his 2008/2009 season, etc.

It seems inconceivable that Ferguson could have had a less favourable of impression of Gerrard in say 2009 than he did at the time of making those original comments in 2004! o_O

That for me is baffling. Fergie talks about how he doesn't rate Gerrard as a top player yet considered signing him??? Why consider that about a player you don't rate?

To turn him into a top player.

Agree with Show Some Fight - comments were very amusing. Same for Keane's reply :thumbsu:

What was Bozza's response?

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-23/bosnich-wants-meeting-over-ferguson-book/5041980

"I'm going to tell him straight to his face and I'll ask him to repeat (his criticism) and then I will tell him exactly what I want to say and you guys can all read about it, like you read his book.

"Sir Alex is entitled to his versions of events as I will be entitled to my right to reply at the appropriate time," he said.

War of words brewing? It's more funny after Bozza said a few weeks ago he wanted SAF to manage the socceroos :D

At least SAF had some nicer things to say about us this time (after his comments last season lol):

"'Newcastle is the one job that should excite every manager that thinks seriously about the game, the history and the fabric of football. If you bring success to those fans you will have achieved something that will write you into the folklore of a special city. To go so long without a whiff of success yet still retain that amount of passion from their fans is unique. It's the one job that I feel is an opportunity missed, if not regretted."

Loved the Sunderland fans doing The Poznan on "that " day, wonder what fergie time thought of that.

Haha, ironically, I actually watched that last night (after watching highlights of the 6-1 Manchester Derby). Still get goosebumps watching those last fews mins - most epic end to a season you will ever see :thumbsu:

Phil Jones' reaction as the score is shown on the livescreen is priceless :D
