i know that it was common knowledge that he chose us but here is the herald sun story from todays paper explaining how he contacted Eddie to try and organise a last minute deal. i didnt listen to triple M this morning, did anybody hear the interview, did eddie give any other details about it?

story:
BRENDAN Fevola sought a desperate last-minute trade to Collingwood as the frantic deadline day deal between Carlton and Brisbane hit a roadblock.

Fevola today revealed he made a personal phone call to Magpies president and friend Eddie McGuire last Friday morning, urging him to deal with the Blues in an attempt to stay in Melbourne.
The controversial spearhead said negotiations between the Blues and Lions were over with only hours until trade week deadline.
"It did fall over on the Thursday night, I got a call late that night," Fevola told Triple M.
"It's a terrible week to be a part of, I never thought I would be a part of it. I think Friday, about 10am, the deal was off and I rang you (McGuire) and said: 'See what the Pies can do because I think it's over'."
McGuire confirmed the Pies' interest: "We were into it, but they (Carlton) wouldn't deal.''
Fevola, 28, said he also wanted to play for St Kilda before Carlton and Brisbane ultimately resuscitated a deal that saw the former Blue move to the Gabba exchange for pick No.12 and emerging tall Lachie Henderson.
"I wanted to go to the Pies, but Eddie couldn't get a deal done. I don't think the Blues wanted to deal with the Pies. It would have been nice to stay in Melbourne, but that's the beauty of our game, it's a national game and you can go anywhere.
"I would have loved to have gone to the Saints as well, but I don't think they could have fit me in the salary cap. But when Brisbane came up and the way they've traded, it was just a win-win for both clubs and to come up here away from Melbourne with the beautiful weather and the wife loving Brisbane, it made it a little easier."

As with the Saints, the Blues didn't want us to have anyone who would push us closer to a flag. Didn't matter they wanted us, the deals would never be done. It's lucky we had a good relationship with Sydney trade wise. And even they were getting very frustrated, Roosy had a flight to Sydney booked for wednesday night before we finally offered 46 as well as 14.

Is anyone surprised that the Blues didn't want to trade their most damaging player to us? I'm not. Besides, I think we would have battled to offer a deal to get him over the line regardless of being Collingwood or not.

Pick 14 and Nathan Brown, or Ben Reid plus Jack Anthony or offers like that might have got a deal started, but we would have had to give up more than Brisbane. Not worth it? Who knows now!

We could have featured in a premiership, but only if we had also got Jolly, and perhaps Ball. Maybe all three names above (or equivalent) plus our first 3 picks would have gone, but the gains of older players would have been substantial.

Absolutely not worth it, they are the key position future of our club from the 06 superdraft.. and for what? a 29 year old drunk/gambler that may be deregistered by the AFL.. pass

Can they really derigister him if the s*** hits the fan? What does that mean for Brisbane? Is it just a case of tough luck? Bad karma for Carlton if that were to occur.
Looks like Brisbane just replaced one loud mouth with another(Aker out, Fev in).

We're reaching for things to talk about, here. Pretty sure we already knew this.

sorry, what would you like to talk about?
by the look of your post you wrote about having nothing to write about??

the reason why it came up today was on the back of an interview on triple M that was on air live this morning, it's also on the herald sun sports page online as the lead story....

anyway, you had two options:
option 1) open the thread and comment on how silly it is in your mind
or
option 2) ignore it and move on

you sadly chose option 1....why?

Move on we knew he wanted to be here Carlton didn't want him to be let's just focus on our list and hope we have enough fire power to win the flag next season

I found the news that the "much anticipated" Brisvegas Carltank showdown is to be on April the 1st.

April Fools Day.:D

Who will be revealed as the fool.
Carlton, Fevola or Voss?

I know where my money is going.

Very apt that date :D
