We all know he is there for the taking for a reasonable price. The chances of him moving out ofo Victoria a very slim. Anyway, I thought we could pur together a list of pros and cons in terms of having Fevola as a player

PROS
- A proven match winner
- Still reasonably young (will be 25 at the start of 2006 season)
- Even in a bad season he kicked 49 goals in 19 games this year
- Reasonably accurate kick for goal
- Should be better performer with our midfield

CONS
- Attitude problems
- Sometimes doesn't work hard enough on the field (especially defensive)
- Can go off at his team-mates if he doesn't like the delivery
- PR disaster waiting to happen
- His salary relects what he should be not neccassarily what he is

Thoughts?

My gut feeling is he'd be like a cancer in the team. Too self interested (self important, big headed.....call it what you will) for mine. Craigy got us firing as a team and I feel Fevola wouldn't fit in that regime.

If Fevola moves from Carlton it will be to another Victorian club.

There is no way he will move interstate to miss out on all those added extras that Melbourne-based players get eg Footy Show, Crown Casino etc etc. Worth quite a bit of extra money

Guys settle down, I am NOT saying that he will come. In fact I said that I can't see him moving outside victoria.

What I was hoping this thread would do is get people to brainstorm all the pros and cons of getting Fevola.

On a one year deal, yeah I would do it. I still think that a mid season trade/draft would benifit most clubs, and it would be perfect for a sting deal with fev.
In the real world, No, I doubt he's worth the risks.

kind of a pointless thread then ;)

and fev would be good for our team. The negatives are what we would have to give up for him and his age. This crap about his attitude is just that. Dennis pagan seems to get a good wrap as being some coaching genius. The fact is, you're either with him or your not, theres no in between ground, hes fallen out with plenty of players. The footy show jump on a couple of minor faces, showing a poor attitude, but its no a big deal. Macca and half the team didnt show the best body language when everything wasnt rosy last yr either.

I think we also have only one yr left in that 'window', there were signs of roo aging this yr, just not quite as dominatant as he once was. Tyson edwards took a battering. Macca is ineffective in the middle now. Goodwin will be next. To get a premiership we need to get a better and more efficient foward line or find two gun midfielders, with fevola we get that. It would be nice if we could keep watts and put fev at FF, hentschel at CHF and Watts on a flank. Thank kenny and Perrie for thier service and move them along. It would be even better to get pav, but despite the 'solid' rumor we have here it aint going to happen. Eitherway the club should look at getting good young talent and it appears there will be atleast one SA player on the table this yr.

What he said. Fevola is a selfish head case, leave him where he is.

$1.4 million over 3 years. BIG con.

His attitude problems haven't just surfaced over night. He has been a loose cannon for his entire carreer bar 2004 & 1st half 2005. Remember he was considered to be on his last chance at the start of 2004.

Would rather have Polak. A lot cheaper & at least his problems might just be Fremantle related.

Seeing he frequents most of the haunts in Carlton, Prahan and St. Kilda he must be a con. :p

Seriously even if he did decide he wanted to come here (and Carlton paid half his salary - which they would be obliged to do) the cons out weigh the pros due to the attitute disposition.

My opinion is that the club would not be interested, as we would have to take him for the duration of his current contract which would be too long for him if it didnt gel with the team structure and discipline.

A good list stiffy but to me Neil Craig has borrowed Malcolm Blights philosophies in regards to team structure having more importance outside the game as well as inside , ie '' there is no I in team''

The biggest negative Fevola would bring is that he would want an I in there.Look at who does the talking and promoting within the AFC and its a defined leadership group..is Fevola going to be in your leadership group?

If Neil Craig reckons he can make a team player out of Fev then go for it.

The only issue I can see is how much would he want considering he would no longer be able to appear on the eddie show on Thursdays

I agree, NC and the people involved at the AFC have a better idea than what I have and I trust their decision.

For what its worth I would like to have Fevola, but I would not want to pay the world for him, if it didnt work out, ******** him off.

Also, we missed out on a grand final birth because our forward structure fell down, I am not sayig Fevola would be the messiah but as Stiffy said he kicked 49 goals in a bad season, while Welsh kicked 60 odd after having what he would regard a good season.

I think there is alot to gain getting him, but it will all come down to his attitude and if he wants to play footy.

Getting him out of Melbourne will be half the battle and I think if he was prepared to do that and I think it says alot about his attitude and where he wants to go footy wise.

Not enough work ethis for me. seems to be in a different world on his of days whcih he has to many of. But Neil Craig could work wonders with him and the crows get the ball in the forward line ehough so he could prove to be no risk at all. Mind you saying this he does play well often enough considering carlton's ability to get the ball to him in their forward line. Not worth the risk for me though. :)

Thats a NO from me.

I honestly don't think he fits into our 'culture'. He is self important and big headed. He just wouldn't fit in. He would do more damage than good. Please Craigy...don't go there.

Pros
- He is getting married on october 7th (last day of trading). Some people mature more when they get married.
- He could do a Barry Hall or a Tony Lockett and transform himself from a bad boy to a superstar who plays consistently good footy
