Haha - to all the Carlton tools who think they will get Bartel in the PSD :thumbsd: try again - Fevola and a second round pick would do it for me, but anything less and it's a "no"

On the brightside, Montagna who cant get a game with St.Kilda might be available in the PSD and would win the Blues 2006 B&F!!!

You guys took Ottens for two first rounders last yr which IMO was way too much. Now Fevola should be worth more than Ottens but realistically wont get us two first rounders. If he was put out in the market he should be able to fetch a 1st and 2nd rounder.
To say Bartel is worth Fevola(1st and 2nd round pick if traded) and a second pick is ridiculous!
Asking for this sort of trade will just deliver another Nick Stevens to us. :D

Why would we want to draft a ratbag 50-60-goal forward woh is going to get in the way of the stable and fairly dependable 50-60-goal forward we already have in Kent Kingsley? I can't imagine the two co-existing.
Kent will rarely be a matchwinner, but its just as rare that he goes missing completely like Fevola does.
Now if someone could offer up a match-hardened CHF for Bartel, then I'd be interested.

LOL you think Bartel is worth a Tredrea or J. Brown now!
Oh btw your coach doesnt even rate him in your top 5 ;)

Fact is he is out of contract, so he holds the cards if he decides he wants to leave. Of course if everything falls through with a trade to another club we would welcome him with open arms. :D

Once again another deluded blues supporter... I'm sure if Bartel was to leave then we could strike a deal with Collingwood, Essendon or even possibly Hawthorn - now i know Collingwood would be willing to give big for a quality forward, how do i know? because malthouse said about a month ago that in the past Collingwood havn't done enough in trading - hence they will be a major player in 2005 trading week.

Bartel will either stay at Geelong or go to Collingwood who could satisfy Geelong with a good return

I'd rather Pick 4 over the entire Carlton list - so would just about every other Geelong supporter!!!

Deluded? Bartel is arguing over his salary I believe? We would be able to offer him what he believes he is worth. As would Collingwood. The question is who he would prefer. We made a play for him the last time he was out of contract so maybe he will bite this time. If not at least we tried.
Im not sure what your on about regarding Collingwood giving big for a quality forward??
Also Collingwood have a reputation which may or may not be true that they arent willing to give much up in trades. If you go into talks with the Pies and this is true then it falls into our hands exactly like the Nick Stevens situation of a couple of years ago.
You may want pick 4 but it wont be offered as we have the bargaining power if Bartel is definite about leaving and you cant strike a deal with another club.
Either way can you see you wont get what he is truly worth if he decides he is leaving??

Nick Stevens is the only massive slip i'v seen since i'v followed AFL - I'm sure Thompson and the recruiting staff are aware of the fact Bartel could just enter the PSD - if this happened Carlton would be happy and it would backfire on Geelong.

However - to counter Cartlon's arrogance not to offer a decent return, we start talking with Collingwood and Essendon who wouldn't be able to get him in the PSD therefore it would be a regular trade between Geel and either Ess or Coll - we might not get what he's worth but we'll get a first rounder and either a young player or another pick.

Lol im not going to bother with this stupidity, im not sure if ur for real or just trying to stir me up with ur persistent demand that the Blues will snag Bartel in the PSD - ahhh ... not going to happen!

Well stop now because that is not true.

Carlton are f*****, you are not getting better anytime soon you guys will be anchored to the bottom for YEARS. Good year this one too:
Lost your home ground and any respect you may have had left oh but you did get another wooden spoon, get some space in the trophy cabinet there are more to come soon.
You have a $400+K full forward show pony full forward who cant follow rules and would rather kick from 65 on the boundary then look for another option. Now you want to ditch him off on us for one of the toughest most loved players in our team. MMMDREAMER!
Lappin and Campo are playing for their retirement funds, remembering better days.
Stevo never wanted to play for you and realised this year that a wizz-fizz cup is the closest he is ever going to get to silverwear so he left his brothers wedding to play. The club new it was true to and let him so they could sign up some more deluded supporters. Why cause you are almost bankrupt!
Your captain is one hammy away from retirement.
You are trying to build a team around the rejects from every other club in the league.
What do you have to offer ANY potential player. You would have to be one VERY greedy SOB to go and play for a club that get SPANKED EVERY WEEK. Why would you do that for yourself, just knowing that going to work every week makes you depressed cause you are now a LOSER.

I rest my case with many thanks to the above post, excellent work Scotty!!! Now to all the Blues supporters who live in fantasy worlds ... the chances of ur team winning the premiership next season are better than ur chances of signing Jimmy Bartel!

We're gearing up for a finals match and your talking about trades.

You're not real Geelong supporters.

If you we're they'd be only one thing on your mind, the elimation final.

LOL Relax guys. Bartel is outta contract and it is rumored negotiations have stalled over money. Now as a club who is in desparate need of an inside midfielder amongst other things it would be stupid for us to not have a go at him.
Every club trys to poach players from other clubs. Thats how it works. If we have the money to spend why not go for Bartel? Even if we dont get him we might push his price up that little bit more so that we get someone else down the line. Its nothing personal.
As someone stated before, Bartel is probably just using other clubs to push his price up.
Same kind of thing happened with Fevola earlier in the year and pressure was put on the Blues to sign him.

oh and Scottydeewah i cant even be bothered replying to your stupid remarks.

Wrong ... real Geelong supporters have one thing on their mind - the premiership!

If ur content with an elimination final then good for u, for me and the real supporters out there ... bring on that last Saturday in September!!!

The reason Fevola kicks that many goals a season is because he is the player Carlton's midfielders will go to 85% of the time. If he had Kingsley, Ablett and Ottens beside him they collectively might kick 120, but Fevola would only get a third or less of those. Give NABlett 2 years and he'll be contributing 40+ on his own, thus negating any need for The Chin. EOS.

Agreed, that plus salary cap issues would make him ungettable. If we could afford Fevola's $500K salary, then we can afford Bartel. Has anyone thought of that?

Fevola is our FF and is our main focal point, however he is not our only goal kicker and its a bit of an exaggeration that the players go to him 85% of the time. If that happened dont you think the coaches of other clubs would be onto it?
If another club were to take Fevola he would be used as their focal point but it doesnt mean he would be relied upon to kick all the goals. Don't the Cats have the problem of missing a good forward to focus on? He may not kick a ton in your team but he would provide good value by taking the best defender or two while your other forwards have an easier run.
The other option of course is to let N. Ablett have two years to develop but thats if you feel you are still two years away from a serious shot.

Given Fevola's form in the second half of the season and Carlton's win-loss ratio, then I'd say there's a damn good chance people are onto it.

But shhhh, I won't tell if you don't.

Why would we want Fev when our forward line consists of the following 4 talls?

Kingsley
Ottens
Playfair
Nath Ablett

Sure he may be naturally more gifted as a forward, but with our options I'd say we'll be sweet once everyone is at full fitness again.

Out of the 4 I mentioned only Playfair would be expendable anyway?

I don't think Fev will be mentioned in the same sentence as Geelong come trade week.

Yes your right. Pagan has instructed his players to pass to Fevola everytime we go forward since the day he arrived. Unluckily for Pagan his master plan has been found out after 2 1/2 years, hence Fevola's form slump.

Lets all just forget that Fevola has been carrying a groin injury the whole of the second half of the season. He hasnt been able to lead the way he usually does because of it.
