OK - we all know he's a gamebreaker and when he's on song almost impossible to stop. On the negative side - he has at times been inconsistent and is not always the model citizen.

So this poses the question - what sort of deal do you think he warrants? Term and money - considering of course that if a 3 year deal was put on the table his last year would be eligible for veteran's list (ie. half of his deal could be excluded from the salary cap).

Let's hear your thoughts

Conversely - if we couldn't come to terms who or what would you expect for him (realistically)....

For me

Don't think he is worth 2.5M over 3 years. I would be looking at approx. 2M over 3 years split as 500, 600 and 900 in his 3rd year.

As a trade would be looking to 2 top 10 picks.

Hard to say without being aware of what opposition players of a similar ilk are paid. At a guess somewhere between $500K-$600K. If the veteran list came into play I would load the first and third years.

In terms of 'worth' he is probably more value to Carlton than any other club. He has developed a cult following over time, and no doubt is a membership draw. He may well have the opposite effect at an opposition club as they haven't come to appreciate his...err...quirks.

Trade value??? I think two top ten's is a bit far fetched. Maybe an early pick (3 ish) and an early second rounder. Hopefully we wont be in a position to find out.

You would think a club that is not far away from a premiership would definately push for Fev and throw 2 first rounders at Carlton if necessary. I think the Doggies would definately throw everything they had for him.

Tarrant was worth pick 8 and medhurst,

Fevola = 100 times better than Tarrant therefore anything less than 2 top 10 picks will not be suffice.

Judd cost us pick 3 Kennedy (pick 4) and pick 18, so there is your measuring stick.

Fevola means more to us than Judd did at West Coast

The Chris Tarrant of today is not the Chris Tarrant that was traded to Fremantle. He was (at the time of trade) at or at least near his highest trade value, and at 26 approximately two years younger than Fev would be were we to trade him at years end.

The Paul Medhurst of today is not the Paul Medhurst that was traded to Collingwood. Today he is regarded as a premier small forward...at the time he was undoubtedly talented, but unfit, ill disciplined and inconsistent.

In relative terms the Tarrant trade would be a relative yardstick.

It doesn't matter what Fev means to us...its what he might mean to a club who might want to trade for him.

what about a Kozzie+goddard for Fev trade? (or goddard+1st pick)

For a variety of reasons Kozzie hasnt lived up to expectations - hasnt finished top 10 in the B&F in his time at the saints so might be expendable. Goddard has value on the trade table and arguably the saints have the players to cover him in the backline (fishers/gram etc).

In 09 Lyon will be in his 3rd season at the club and under pressure to produce or be moved on so he might be tempted to load up for another push to the finals rather than rebuilt. Fev would make the saints extremely dangerous when played in combo with reiwoldt (what gehrig was supposed to do this year) so perhaps lyon might be prepared to do the trade.

In kozzie we'd have a CHF/FF replacement (I think FF is his best role) and in goddard a long kicking damaging HBF/mid

You guys have no clues, trading Fev...Are you Joking, lets Trade Pratt, Sticks, Swan and Hughes...NFI..

While we are at it lets give our 40,000 members away to North

Fev is only going to get better IMO!

Think it was 2.8 M over 3 years. Thing is Judd's on over a million a year. Fev is maybe more important to our side given FF is a such a difficult and specialist position so there has to be some sort of parity in his pay. That's one drawback in paying someone that much other stars like to paid on a relative scale.

We have a great nucleus which includes Fev.We have at the moment room in the Cap. So lets consolidate and have stability on the park. Build the team up.WE are not far off!

Fev's best >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tarrants best and talent.

Fev will not be going anywhere and if he was to be traded 2 top 15 picks and a top liner will be the only thing i will look at
