The Fremantle Dockers wish to advise that development coaches Ashley Prescott and Steve Grace have notified the club that they will not be renewing their contracts, which are due to end on 31 October.

Prescott, who joined Fremantle in 2010, has told the club he intends to pursue other opportunities while Grace, who also been with the club since 2010, is returning to Melbourne.
I see West Coast are currently wielding the axe as well with Neale Daniher and Philip Walsh leaving the club.

Strange time to announce this considering the current focus is all on Sat arvo.
Would have thought at the end of season to be more suitable.

Agreed. But 10 other clubs are out of finals and are starting to make their appointments and list managements decisions. So to give Prescott and Grace time to find a new positions, other clubs need to be aware of their intention to leave.

Two years ago (or whenever it was) Leon Cameron left Hawthorn to go to GWS at the start of the finals series.

Yeah and as development coaches their role for the year has probably come to an end basically. We have 4 weeks max left and ideally no players with 10 games or less would e getting a gig.

Oh dear, Ashley Prescott...seduced by Scott Watters whispering sweet nothings in his ear...

The Australian, 19 Nov 2013

As exclusively reported in The Australian earlier this month, the tipping point in Watters' sacking was his hiring of former Richmond player Ashley Prescott, who worked as a development coach with Fremantle this year.

Prescott flew to Melbourne on the Thursday night and was at Seaford meeting prospective new workmates as Watters was being axed on the Friday.
He had been promised a multi-year role as a line coach to replace Dean Laidley, but head of football Chris Pelchen is understood to have immediately sent him home with no job.

Gotta feel for Prescott here, Pelchen sounds like a complete unit.

If Coach Lyon has taught us anything it is get the other job then resign.
