Fido would have to be better (biased opinion of course).

He kicks just about the same amount of goals per match, maybe a bit less, but his work ethic in tackling, chasing and pressuring would be worth several goals in itself. So Fido is my choice.

Agreed WCE2000. Farmer will do the more spectacular plays and kick the unkickable goals, however Matera will bob up with 2 or 3 goals a game. Both players should end up with around 30-40 goals next season (hopefully Matera will get more for us!)

Jeff Farmer although a good player is more of a "hero" type player, he tries to do the impossible when he has other options available to him
I reckon Phil is more consistent and just his chasing and tackling make him worth heaps more

would yous all be saying phil matera is better if yous got farmer or is it just the biased thing that yous think matera is better because he plays for eagles

Fido is the very reason we're not even trying to get Farmer. Having both of them would be overkill, and if I had the choice I'd take Fido. Farmer can do huge amounts of damage on his day, but what West Coast needs right now are players who can perform solidly week in, week out. That's Phil Matera.

Theres no doubt that Farmer can be a matchwinner and has proven he can do it on occasion, however, Phil Matera is more solid and although he wont kick 6 or 7 a game like the Wiz, he'll pop up with 2 or 3 a game

Well im with you guys. Farmer is a matchwinner and when he is on he is one of the best forwards in the league and can kick a bag on you at any time.

The problem with that is he only does it every so often. He either kicks 8 or 9 and blows a game apart or doesnt get a touch or kicks a consolation goal late in games when the game is over.

Matera on the other hand is good for goals every game and requires a top defender every week. Matera can be explosive too but only in very small bursts where he can 2 or 3 quickly when he hasnt been in the game much. His tackling and defence to keep the ball in the forward line is a huge asset every forward should have.

Id take Fido over Wiz just.
