Keepers! What the **** is with them seriously? Why don't they come out?????? The ball can be bombed into the box and they just ****ing stand there, which coupled with the annoying crabwalk makes it extremely dangerous. Sometimes I try and get them to pick it up by holding triangle but that can often lead to my defender doing a through ball up the pitch (or in one case in an offline game, an own goal)!!!

So damn frustrating.

Look this is a bit cliche but a good attack = a good defence..

The two things that you need to master:

1. Reading your opponent knowing were he is going to pass it, what way he is going to turn and so on.

2. Rushing out wih your keeper at the precise time.

Other problems with the game i tend to work around them..
 
wohoo starting to really get the hang of this game now. Have now won 7 games in a row online and think ive worked out the trick. Just gotta keep passing then work out wide with a through ball and go for broke.

Seems to work for me.

Roosterlad, are you holding triangle when the ball goes towards the box? I use this tactic to rush up if an opponent breaks my defensive line just as hes about to get into the box. This way it forces him to make a quick shot but they usually go over the bar or wide.

Some of this trick stuff is working great as well especially to evade tackles or to do a quick evade and run wide...i seem to be using my wingers alot to break up play.

They gotta fix that damn crab walk problem though.Can;t wait till this patch is out.

Yes I hold triange to make the keeper come out but sometimes it doesn't work at all.

Defence is completely ****ed actually, I just had another game where I led 2-1 and then BOOM my defence imploded. I try and change player and they take a couple of steps the other way! The defenders just seem very robotic in their motions, with the ball it's ok.

The defence on PES is a lot better.

It can also take ages for your player to actually pass the ball, it takes 8 animations before they finally kick the stupid thing. And if you want to get some power behind the pass you better be 20 yards in the clear because by the time you charge up the bar and then go through the motions of kicking the ball you have been closed down.

But I seriously can not believe a game like FIFA was tested, and tested, yet they never picked up the fact your guy will walk sideways for no apparent reason. Holy **** that is frustrating the absolute shit out of me. Are the testers/developers etc blind crack addicts or something?

Without sounding patronising RL, maybe you just need to keep working through it? Before you mentioned that not enough goals were being scored (ie. tight defense), now you are saying there are too many (or not enough good defense), and that's in the space of a couple of days. A game wouldn't be worthwhile if you could just pick it up and have everything go the way you want. I understand the bugs and stuff, fair enough to be annoyed at them, but in terms of general gameplay, maybe it will just take a while to work it out totally.

Yes now there are a few more goals in offline but this is online. There is always going to be more goals when it's human vs human. Defence is absolute irritating though.

Roosterlad in defense, once you've got control of the defender, use the old pro evo trick to get it off the attacking player. Holding sprint and tackle button at the same time. Seemed to work for me as my defender was able to work the attacker off the ball

I just won my first ranked game 3-1 as Arsenal vs Chelsea. He scored a late consolation thanks to my keeper not picking the ball up! He was pretty ordinary though.

I am so damn sick of people being Man Utd though and then just using CRonaldo to run around in circles. I wish people would use average top flight teams, would make it far more exciting.
 
i am getting so pissed at online... the tiny lag has f*cked me 4 games in a row. im seriously considering not playing it ever again... 4 times in 3 games im running into the goal and the other player has taken out my player and of course i didnt score. its a massive dogged act. i was so pissed off i kicked in shattered every draw on my desk with my foot... its better than throwing the controller

I'm really starting to get the hang of defeating Ronaldo bashers. It's all about timing your defense and keeping your players back. Someone above mentioned not committing - this has worked for me. I don't mind if he takes shots from outside the box but I don't want him latching on to the through balls where 9/10 the idiot on the other end will score.

I do hope though in the next stat update Ronaldo is tweaked a little lower to stop the garbage cheesers online and force some skill. Really it's only United that I feel are just above the rest. Quality game online... Offline I'm a little disapointed as I feel the AI is a little stupid at times and doesn't really challenge.

i agree with defence! but then again im a hack. on top of your defensive probs, my prob is when i change the player im still moving the left stick (movement) trying feverishly to get the player i want. you know what that means? when the player i want is finally picked he starts running away or in some spasmodic direction! totally infuriating when its the last defender and one on one.

as others have said triangle to make the keeper rush out.

Crabwalk is when your defender or even player running towards the ball walks sideways or something.. just like a crab!

My defenders always run away from the ball because I'm doing exactly what you're doing!! It's so bad when it just opens a gap for the opposition to run straight through and score.

Triangle doesn't help too much, the keepers have glueboots and don't charge out as quick as I'd like so it's very risky. Especially online.
 
On 360 i have yet to notice the 'crab walk'.

For me its all about keeping your distance from the attacking players if you are defending. Just like footy, protect the space and even the fastest of players cannot get past you.

If you are having trouble getting goals i tend to make a quick run from the oppositions turnover, work the ball up quickly up to about half way and send out a long through ball for your strikers to get on the end of, then its just one on one easy finish.:D

When doing all the registering of this game and getting it going, what league did you guys choose as you free purchase in the Live Season thingy?

Or are you not going to use it in case the ratings start changing too much?
 
Just played an online game that i equalised in the 90th minute to take into extra time n then penalties....the penalties went for 25 shots each with the other guy missing on the 25th shot :eek:

they were all well placed penalties so it wasnt a case of keepers not bein able to save well.
