His exposed form at VFL level was pretty impressive wasnt it.

All three delisted mids the Eagles signed had exceptional form in the VFL / SANFL and were playing in teams playing finals / winning flags.

All three are in a age bracket the Eagles are lacking due to early injury retirements. They dont have any mids putting up consistent numbers in the reserves like these three.

I would say his VFL form was goodish. Better players would dominate much more at VFL level than Finn does but they don't because they are playing in the AFL.

If you go through the last 15 years of the draft you won't find any mid/medium players who has been on a list for 5 years for only 20 odd games who then go on to have a substantial AFL career. Unfortunately for him the odds are stacked against him.

He is not AFL standard. I wont forget the game vs North in 2024, for some reason people were hyped to see him play vs a bad team and they had to sub him out at halftime because we were down 50 getting blitzed out of the middle... we ended up winning the game after subbing him out and changing the centre bounce mix

Aside from being able to consistently rack up decent possession numbers his form wasn’t that impressive.

He wasn’t a match winner or a game breaker he was just a consistent accumulator with no hurt factor.

Ned Long’s form at VFL level in the first half of 2024 is what I’d consider impressive.
