Written by one of the most one-eyed Bombers fan in the media.I bet he was s******ing over his keyboard writing that condescending crap!

How is that easy run home looking after Friday's game?

Because we're renowned for winning games that we can't lose, aren't we???

It's articles like that that will see Fevola and Stevens picked again next week!

We couldn't possibly consider Kreuzer at FF and Hampson in the ruck could we?!!

I agree with the article in full. No one's saying the result on Friday night was anything but disgraceful, but it was a one off in an otherwise very promising season.

We got within ten points of the Saints last week for crying out loud - even after giving them a five goal head start. The week before we beat Brisbane in Brisbane. We smashed the Bulldogs who are sitting third and looking brilliant. As we did an admittedly weak Collingwood team.

We've won more quarters of footy than any team bar the Saints and the Cats - you have to ask why we only sit on 6 wins when we've won 30 of 52 quarters. But what it does tell me is that we haven't got too far to go. We're winning our fair share of quarters but not getting the results we deserve.

We're two goals away from sitting 10-3. Yeah, it's not that simple but the fact is, despite the thumping at the hands of the Bombers, we've still got the lowest losing margin in the league obviously barring the two who haven't lost yet.

A fortnight ago all's looking rosy and we're on our way to our first finals appearance in 8 years. Fast forward to today and Ratten's a hopeless coach, we'll never have any success with a self-centred, moody Fev in the team and Stevens is a fat slug who's leeching the club dry. Our season is over and if we do somehow manage to stumble our ways to September, it'd be an insult to the jumper as we'd no doubt be thrashed in the first week.

I'm sure if we come out and beat the Dockers next week all the Chicken Littles (like it, TG) will be proclaiming our greatness yet again and all the happenings of the past week forgotten.

Agree, it was a puff piece so he can feel high and mighty when in the future if is asked why he's so anti-Carlton and he can point to this article.

From the Fab-four article to the articles on Fev being our most important player, etc etc.... this stuff gets to our players heads and they almost believe the spin.

I DO NOT want any of our players to find excuses or that things will be alright after Friday's pathetic performance.

Putting in my money for a membership year in year out, putting in extra cash for their new facilities so they can go and have a nice relaxing spa/sauna after putting in efforts like Friday are not acceptable.

Well said blues4flag !

We win games and everyone is going on about how good we are and how good our players are. We lose and talk is of sacking Ratten, trading or sacking Fev, trading Gibbs, its absolutely laughable.

Its one extreme to the other with never any middle ground for some of our "supporters".

at no stage have we said the club is a basketcase i don't think? the most disappointning aspect o friday night was the way we lost, it was a total disgrace, we didn't try in the second half, it's as simple as that, too many players were happy to stand back and let the rest of the team do the work, i lost count on how many times we saw an ess player free in the corridor, after pushing the saints to the line you would think we could make a statement and prove it was no fluke by beating ess, but no, again we play into their hands, let them use their pace and run off, and not be accountable, it was utter disgrace

I don't care what rohan connolly says, but what does it mean when you say 'we have arguably the best draw remaining'? does that mean we are playing sides we should beat? because going on the first half of the year, we are no certainites against anyone

Im actually happy the way that the Carlton fans have reacted over Essendons loss! It shows that we wont put up with ordinary performances any longer! Especially against teams such as Essendon and Collingwood! It puts pressure on the coaching group and playing group to perform! We have a better list than essendon and Collingwood who are on top of us on the ladder! The problem i can see is the way Carlton is being coached and there gameplan on the day! How can Essendon beat us in the stopages when there were missing Hille,McVeigh and Watson!

.

Your loss was encapsulated by Fevola's arrogance. When he took that great one handed mark, then poked the ball at Tayte Pears, and then sprayed what was an easy kick, that said it all. The Bombers lifeted, and Fevola sulked, and sulked and sulked.

Your forwards played with indifference after that, waiting for the other guy to do the job.

Nothing to do with your coach - it was your team for want of a better word to describe what was by then a rabble. Nobody wanted to do the hard yards.

I'll tell you something else: you can quote all the stats you like, and how wonderful you've played in I don't care how many quarters; you guys play like last Friday again and you won't win anything.

Dear Madblue,
myself and quite a few others were NOT pulling ourselves when we were 2-0 and on top of the ladder. If you check I actually posted a thread to temper all the premature ejaculation!
I have been a critic of Fev's for years!!!
And finally a lot of us here have paid our memberships, bought merchandise, donated money when the club was being humiliated and stuck by it in the darkest of times.
Fev's and the teams performance on Friday is just taking the piss out of a loyal supporter group.

Unfortunately the truth hurts!!!

They have bragging rights over us this year in both games, scoreboard, ladder position.

At least with Collingwood and Richmond we have some room for argument, and even with Hawthorn... but let's face it... Essendon supporters have many reasons to gloat and it is because of that we should be extremely annoyed at our team for what they dished up.

If our boys lost by 2-3 goals okay.. that's life... but 12 goals!!! Let's wake up and smell the coffee and realise something is not right.

VB I wont blast you because your post is fair, even though I normally don't tolerate Essendon supporters on our board!!!

One thing I'll pick you up on.For most of the game ,you could have built a block of flats in the corridor and that just let you guys tear us apart.Thats why a lot of us are saying Ratts was out-coached on the night

What do you think Geelong did last year when they lost by 86 points to Collingwood?

Bulldogs lost to WC by 33, us by 43, Saints by 28 points in three consecutive weeks. Had that been us, this place would have gone into melt down. They've won 6 of 7 since, their only loss against the Cats by 2 points.

Losing by 2-3 goals is bad, losing by 12 is disgraceful. But it happens to the best of sides. Be it the break, be it the build up to the match - whatever it was, it definitely wasn't the norm. We're a much better side than what we showed on Friday and at the moment, it is a one off. If it happens again then serious questions need to be asked.

At the moment, I'd be treating it as just a shocking week, address a few things with the playing group but for the most part put it behind us and look forward to next week.

Starting to get back to normal after Fridays debacle..I am not convinced
we are good enough to make the finals, sure we have put up good performances against Saints,Hawks but at the end of the day we lost,we have a coach who worries too much about the opposition,we are much to defensive, look at Knights he lets his players play their own game what is our gameplan do we have one can someone please tell me what it is,what is our strategy when we kick a point do we have one .

Finally if Ratten is not good enough to be our coach will Sticks make the hard decision
I doubt it

It's a fine line though isnt it? Agree with what you said here but on the flipside we play like we played 2 Friday nights ago we'll beat just about anyone.

In hindsight that's not so true IMO.

Bragging is something I don't believe in, and gloating is the sure path to getting a thrashing next.

I watched the game next to some very enthusiastic Carlton supporters, and witnessed their joy in the second quarter and then saw their utter disappointment in the second half.

I saw the video of Ratten's interview after the game. I am just giving my view, and I am sure this is one shared by most Carlton supporters (although some have gone way over the top).

I watched the game again on tape and what I had posted is supported by what I saw.

And Lukesta, thanks for your post. I have to say again that instead of blaming your coach for the open corridor, if you watched the second half again, there were several players who didn't run and tackle.

I don't think I have posted a single shitty post on your board after your loss - I don't believe in such BS.

P.S. I cheered for Carlton during that memorable game when Jezza took that famous mark, and the Blues came back from oblivion to beat Collingwood. Enough said!!

I hope the players feel as sh!t as I and all the other Carlton supporters feel after that loss.

It was a heartless pathetic performance!

Ratts was saying all week how good our slogan is because everyone remembers it and it has given us record membership sales. Well that slogan promises good performances, not crap like on friday...

As a member of 18 years, I don't want to be "sucked in" by my club to have high hopes of good performances then rock up and be totally embarrest.

Ratts said he wanted to bring back the success and swagger to our club....he has certainly restored the latter but the success is still pending. Let's not forget we have had an absolute dream run this year with an easy draw and our list has enough talent to seriously contend for a top 4 position. Fev's tude and stevo's fitness IMO is as much Ratten's fault as the players themselves! If a player is not performing they must be held accountable by being played in the Ants, if a player is getting on the p!ss too hard they should be dropped to the thirds! We have to toughen up as a club and not accept anything but 100% effort. That should not excluding ANYONE, including our captain.

I would much perfer to watch JR/AB/Ellard/Bentley turning it over while giving everything and chasing than stevo waddling around with his mind clearly elsewhere.

I don't want to see our players talent wasted. It's dissapointing that the best and most comitted player in our side grew up at another club and learnt everything he knows about the game from a drug addict.

It's time for Ratts to put his foot down! No more Fev acting like a d!ck on the footy show unless is he performing amazingly well on the field and has atleast 5 1%ers. He is getting payed to well to only show up when he feels like it. No more players on the p!ss after 11pm, if we are serious about playing finals and building a successful culture we can't have 5am benders during the season. No more selections based on reputation, must be based on peformance...no credits in the bank, players must perform everyweek or face the chop!

If we don't play finals this year, like Ratts promised, I don't think he should be head coach in 2010, just keep him as an assistant for the mids.

And to top it off give Essendon a bit of credit too. It's not like you got stuffed by Melbourne or Richmond. Essendon has actually played some good football this year and the only reason people are making such a big song and dance about it all is because everyone had written them off.

Essendon also ran St. Kilda close, beat Hawks by more than you, beat you earlier in the year, and were pipped by Adelaide, one of the form teams in the compeition, only through absurd goal accuracy.

If you look at the Dons from ANZAC day onwards we've only been poor against Brisbane and the team that beats everyone easily, Geelong. Essendon in the last 9 rounds has played 6 teams in the top 8, as well as the reigning premier and come out with 5 wins, 4 by more than 40 points, as well as two losses under 20 points.

So have a bit of respect for the teams you play against too, it's not doing so that results in you getting smashed by 69 just as much as anything else.

Maybe but do we have a potentially better list than Geelong and the Saints and do we have the innate power to utilise it? I.E do we have more critical weaknesses? For the moment I would say yes to the latter point.

We have a potentially better list then Geelong ??

What a load of bullshit (no offense Pafloyul) but really, that is a ridiculous statement, that is just not grounded in any factual basis whatsoever.
